i believe in eloping.

Iklboo · 24/10/2006 11:39

We got married on 30 Oct. It was great. Pics were taken just as the sun was beginning to set. Clocks went back that night so we got an extra honeymoon hour in bed - plus, given the proximity to hallowe'en, DH will never forget it

CreepyCrawlyCarmenere · 24/10/2006 11:40

Yep, my friend had a fab winter wedding in a little church on a cliff top in Co Waterford, it was at 4.30 so it was candle lit. It was soo glamorous, she had an amazing dress with a long fitted white velvet dress coat over it, stunning

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 24/10/2006 11:40

Yeah if I ever get married I will do it in the winter. Candle light, velvet, log fires etc etc.

NOMurDErousPLUME · 24/10/2006 11:41

Winter weddings are so much more romantic imo.

Says the woman who married on a glorious July day

TheDaVinciCod · 24/10/2006 11:42

once wlaked past a town hall near us on liek the 20ths of december

ginmummy · 24/10/2006 11:42

I like the idea of a sumptuous long coat to go over a flowing gown and a reception where all the guests are greeted with warm mulled wine!

CountessDracula · 24/10/2006 11:43

they are but they can be bollocking cold

brrrrrrrrr

MrsBadger · 24/10/2006 11:43

chic if done well, much potential to be ghastly if not - red dresses trimmed with fur in Santa stylee; complete Snow Queen outfits for brides with bridemaids shivering in chiffon slips; Scottish Widow-type shapeless capes (have seen all these IRL).

At least the men don't get red and sweaty in suits and waistcoats (pet hate at summer weddings)

NOMurDErousPLUME · 24/10/2006 11:43

"cnacleabras"

You are on form today fishy !

JoolsToo · 24/10/2006 11:43

yes nice but you can't beat Autumn for colour

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 24/10/2006 11:43

Also having your anniversary in the winter means a romantic weekend away in a cottage with log fires, candle light etc etc.

CountessDracula · 24/10/2006 11:43

what is a cnacleabra?

TheDaVinciCod · 24/10/2006 11:43

lol candleabra

CountessDracula · 24/10/2006 11:44

yes we had autumn wedding, it was a perfect sunny warm but not hot day, just right

JoolsToo · 24/10/2006 11:44

yes ledodgy, lovely

cod, you ballsed up!

Orlando · 24/10/2006 11:45

We got married on 19 december (at 4pm so it would be going dark), totally ignoring gripes from all the relatives that came from Iverness (my family) and Sussex (dh's) because- hey, it was so romantic. Ivy and deep, deep red roses. Candles in church. Christmas carols for hymns...

Ha. Since having kids have never celebrated a wedding anniversary. Always rushing to meet last posting deadline, making cakes for 3 class parties or picking girls up from some pre-xmas show or other. Tis retribution.

photos were good though.

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 24/10/2006 11:45

You'll have to divorce him and re marry in the winter.

oranges · 24/10/2006 11:56

we got married in november, which means there is always a lovely opportunity to go away. Cheers up a grim time of year.

Issymum · 24/10/2006 12:01

I may be wrong here but I seem to recall that PPH had a very glamorous winter wedding. It feels like a million years ago but I have a vague image of winter darkness, decadent fabrics and log fires. This is going to be v. embarrassing when PPH declares that I wasn't invited to her wedding and I've got her confused with someone else!

Tutter · 24/10/2006 12:03

nicest wedding i went to was in a teeny chapel in northumberland the week before xmas. lit entirely by tea lights. no flowers, just berries and holly. carols instead of hymns. lovely.

Bozza · 24/10/2006 12:12

Orlando - don't worry DH and I got married on 16 May but we still never get chance to celebrate. Due to DD's birthday being 15 May I am always busy organising parties, presents, family visits etc. And to cap it all I have recently found out that my new nephew/neice is also due on 15 May.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 24/10/2006 12:14

I want a winter wedding! Love it - deep reds and and golds, fairy lights and cosy candlelight.

Dont think it'll happen anytime soon though

hunkermunker · 24/10/2006 12:15

My wedding anniversary is on Friday.

VVV, we'll just elope, 'k?
