Anyone else a size 15? What do you wear?

It's really pissing me off now! Size 16 clothes are too big, size 14 too small. I'm trying to lose 7-10lbs so that I'll fit a size 14 properly, but in the meantime I'm a definite size 15 Hmm

If you're in between sizes, and carry most of your weight on your tummy, what's good to wear?

I have no answers, but was thinking exactly the same thing earlier!

Fairylea · 19/02/2015 22:46

I am this size :)

I wear a lot of skinny or straight leg jeans.... long boxy oversized jumpers to hide the tummy coupled with lots of vests as layers and currently love my cherry red doc martens. (I'm 34 by the way).

When the weather gets warmer I tend to wear a lot of cotton dresses from seasalt as they hang nicely or stripy dresses from Gap.

I look for things that have a pattern to them or a print as I find them more flattering. It takes the eye sway from my wobbly bits!

annabelcaramel · 19/02/2015 22:48

Where do you tend to shop? I have clothes, tops especially, in everything from a 12 to a 20 that fit, like you I'm between sizes in my head but have given up to an extent thinking in those terms and just try and work out what size fits best in each store. I think sizing is out of all order these days.

DelphiniumBlue · 19/02/2015 22:52

Doesn't it depend on the brand to some extent? So ( for example) in Zara I'd go for a 16/XL, but in Next I'd go for a 14.
But I don't wear particularly fitted, ungiving clothes - 90% of my wardrobe is either jersey or has lycra ( or is a jumper/cardi this time of year).

SlinkyB · 19/02/2015 22:53

Fairy that sounds like my wardrobe pretty much (I'm 34 soon). I find size 14 jeans fit lovely on my legs/bum, but are too tight on my tummy, especially by the end of the day. Size 16 fit lovely on the waist/tummy, but look awful on my bum and legs.

Same with tops. I'm quite broad, and a 14 can be a bit tight on the bust (34E/F) but I actually have a slim middle.

I was a size 12-14 hourglass before my two kids sigh

Not tried Seasalt so will have a look. Have a lovely patterned dress from Mantaray which I'm living in atm. Agree about prints detracting from wobbly bits! Smile

Tend to shop in Next (14), Supermarkets (14/16), H&M (who knows?!) but bought a jacket in Crew on the weekend that's a size 12 and fits Confused

I have some Next and M&S skinny jeans in a 14 from a couple of years ago which are too small on my tummy. Just gave all my size 16's to charity as I'm determined not to put weight back on now I'm finished having babies.

Get some Spanx. Wear them every day for a week. They are so bloody uncomfortable you will have lost those few extra pounds by the end of the week just so you can breathe again.

SlinkyB · 19/02/2015 23:07

Ha! Life's too short for Spanx annabel! I'm a comfort girl all the way.

I can't be doing with spanx either. I do like high waisted skinny jeans from next and primark though. Sometimes I add a sneaky safety pin to the waist to keep them up... ! My waist is a 14 but my hips are definitely a 16.

I like new look as well. Their plus size range online is really good... as their sizes come up quite small their 16 is more like a large 14. And it's very fashionable so it's a bit less frumpy than places that are generally for size 14 plus.

I tend to size up for tops a lot. So I tend to buy a size 18 or even 20 for a jumper so that it hangs really well. For basics I really like asos, tu at sainsburys and primark.

I am also a fan of basics from cotton trader even though some of their website is totally god awful.

I think the best pair of jeans I have at the moment is a pair of high waisted super skinny jeans from primark in a size 14. Cost me all of £11.

ouryve · 19/02/2015 23:25

Delphinium, that's the single most helpful comment I've seen today because I've never been able to work out what size to buy in Zara.

Another one here for skinnies with un-clingy tops.

Kikiw123 · 19/02/2015 23:40

I'm kind of the same.

I wear a lot of size 14 jeggins. They look like skinny jeans and have the forgiving waist of a legging. I had some from river island, warehouse and primark but the best ones I've ever had are from.....sainsburys! I got a couple of more pairs this week as they've 25% off ending Monday 23rd.
On top I usually wear a loose-ish fitted top/t shirt/shirt tucked in a little at the front waistband to stop my legs looking stumpy at the front but covers my butt at the back. I always wear heels or wedges in a boot shoe or heeled trainer.

On bad days it's a dress vvv forgiving.

SlinkyB · 20/02/2015 06:30

Ah, 25% off TU is finally on then. I'll try and get there on Sunday and check out their jeggings. Followed the advice on here a few months back and bought size 14 leggings there (£10 per pair ones) and I find they come up too high; almost to my bra!? I'm 5ft 7" so not short really.
