Bleaching dark brown hair, a bit.

I did a sort of 'ombre' using a Loreal kit about 8 months ago and it was okay, but not quite as light as I would like (went to ginger, but I toned this down with purple shampoo and 'ash' blonde dye and was pleased with the end result).
I would like to do it again, as well as few streaks but to get the hair a bit lighter this time (it's currently a mid/dark brown). I understand that when you bleach hair it goes through the different shades, eventually going blonde but my last go stopped at 'ginger' and refused to continue, so I'm guessing I need to try a stronger bleach this time.
I'm quite happy to buy online. I think that I as well as the bleach I also need developer and a toner (I like 'ash' shades).
Has anyone got any experience of doing this themselves, can you recommend some products or retailers/sellers?
Many thanks,
Dawn.

Leave the bleach on longer, low and slow is better than stronger and a quicker lift condition wise for your hair.

Thanks to both of you for your answers. GBM- Never heard of 'Bleach London' before but it looks just the ticket.

If you can get to a Sally's wella bleach and developer is the best IMO. Not sure about toner over the counter. I'm a hairdresser and only use professional toners from wholesale.

Hi Kiki- wish I was near a Sally's as it's mentioned a lot online, but I live in the middle of nowhere.
