1940's wedding

I've heard you ladies are amazing and wondering if you would help please Grin

We have been invited to a wedding in May (VE day) which will have a 1940's/ VE Day theme. The marriage will be in church and the reception at a local war museum. We haven't been asked to dress in a certain way but the invite suggested we may like to do something with a 'nod' towards the theme.

I know the theme will be done with great taste by the bride and groom & I would like for us to have a hint of 1940's in our outfits.

'We' are, DP, DD9, DS1 and me! Beyond the tights with the seam I am clueless!

Any suggestions would be great fully received Flowers

Have a look at www.vivienofholloway.com/ and www.collectif.co.uk/ for ideas. Some of their stuff is quite wearable in normal situations, not just if you're going for the full 40s look. Hair and makeup makes a difference too - short back and sides for the men too!

Bit stuck on the men's. Pictures of my father in the 40s as a child are all long shorts and tank tops, not sure if you would persuade DS into those.

This site has some lovely, wedding appropriate stuff. www.20thcenturyfoxy.com/en/index/a1

There are plenty of 40s themed weddings on Rock 'n' Roll Bride.
