Are Space NK good about perfume returns?

It was gorgeous in store, but I have realised it's awful on me. Think I may even be allergic as it gives me a pounding headache every single time I wear it.

AIBU to return it for a credit or are they uppity about that sort of thing? Their staff aren't exactly the TLC type at the best of times.

But if you have opened it and used it I don't they will take it back to be honest where would ? They can't resell it sorry but think this is one to put down to experience.

Thanks Farmer, did wonder whether I was being cheeky.

Just find their hard sell so bloody persuasive, the assistant was so flattering and enthusiastic and I was feeling a bit low and let them talk me into it, when I should have gone away and waited until I was happy with the drydown.

Do wonder why I ever shop at Space NK, TBH. Everything I buy in there turns out to be a disappointment. Must avoid in future Grin.

It was bought this morning for £82, haven't used up the bottle or anything!

They can't resell though if you've opened it though can they. Maybe see how much it sells for on eBay to get some of your money back?

Yes, know IABU. Sephora accept perfume returns (they re-use them for testers).

I was hoping Space NK's policy would be the same.

Really don't know why it's not working on me. I have had a spritz when passing through the shop before and really liked it so why isn't it working on me today now I've bought the damn thing?

Just this second clocked I've bought the EDP and not the EDT.

No wonder it smells different.

Can I layer it with something to make it smell less oppressive? I have loads of Jo Malone colognes?

It's Volutes by Diptyque, for the scent mavens.

I would try. It may make Space NK thing twice about the 'hard sell'. I don't know if they work on commission but this store seems pushy. It would have been more professional for the SA to spritz a little on you and tell you to wear it for a few hours before committing to a purchase, especially at that price! Purchases online with Space NK are free over £60, so there would have been nothing wrong with her sampling some and recommending you order online if you liked it.
You may be able to contact CS if you get no change from the store. I think if you are getting a severe headache - I get bad migraines when I am reacting to something, not just perfume though - then that could qualify as an allergic reaction and be grounds for a refund. They should be able to do something for you in those circumstances. I think companies are legally bound to refund in the case of an allergic reaction, though you'd have a hard time proving an allergy to it as you can't see a headache. You may be able to convince them to exchange for something else or vouchers.

I very much doubt if they will refund but maybe worth an email to them asking the question?

Some perfumes give me a headache so I sympathise. However, one gave me a headache the first time but I persevered as it was sooo expensive and then it was fine - so maybe worth trying again another day?

cardamomginger · 19/02/2015 18:27

Did you want and try the EDT but were sold the EDP instead? If so, then it is their mistake and you may have a case to make for a refund, even though you opened it. If so, I'd go back sooner rather than later, whilst the sales assistant has some recollection of you and of the transaction.

I've had mix ups similar to this at Space NK before, but have spotted it before I opened the product.
