What would you wear to a wedding anniversary meal?

So going to someone's big anniversary meal for around 40 in a restaurant. Went shopping and many dresses seem to 'wedding like' but a nice top and trousers maybe but too casual? Anyone any ideas and linkies? I'm a petite size 8-10 but well past 40 so not too short if dress!

For me, that's a 'dress' occasion, so yes, I'd say trousers and a top was a bit casual.
Hopefully this will bump for you as I know there are some fab people who loiter around these boards that always come up with the good Smile

They do like to know what sort of budget you have though, so are not linking to £200 dresses when you had £20 in mind Wink

There are some lovely dresses in Phase Eight, particularly if you like florals.

Thanks - budget around £100 plus accessories.
I had a look in Phase 8 but they seemed a bit 'wedding like' .

I'm looking for exactly the same thing. Also struggling to find a dress that isn't too dressy but dressy enough. I'll keep one eye on this thread and one eye on the search.

I that a jersey dress can be dressed up to look eveningy rather than weddingy.

Phase 8 always have a few. Also try Mary Portas at House of Fraser.

This dress is Mary Portas and the shoes are Dune.

I 'think' that....not I that!

How about a skirt?

I bought this recently (not in the sale, either Sad) and it is stunning. I am an 8 and bought the XS. Fits beautifully, wonderful handle. However, it IS long. I am 5'9 and it is at my ankles.

They have some other wrap type dresses in the sale too, though, which are lovely. Also can be worn again and again with different shoes/jewellery/bags. I've worn mine both dressed up and with skate shoes and a leather jacket during the day.

googlenut · 20/02/2015 11:59

The skirt might work worn exactly as on model - but maybe with brighter jewellery?

I think the wrap dress would be too long as I'm short
