I'm looking online for the best deals, are they true to size? I'm looking at the Clogs too.

I find they come up big, I am a 4/37 usually and had to get a 3/35 for my birkenstocks.

gonegrey56 · 18/02/2015 14:27

They come up big in my experience. I go down a size.

eliphantdreams · 18/02/2015 14:31

Thanks for the feedback, OK I'll go down a size then Smile

They definitely come up big.

MadderPink · 18/02/2015 14:32

They are big, but you want them to be a bit big IYSWIM because that's how they work - your foot should sit in the footbed with room to spare, not be jammed up against the edges.

I am normally an 8 which can be a 41 or 42, and my birkenstock size is 41, so I size down rather than up, but only slightly.

I have just bought some new ones for this spring and they were a really good price at amazon here (though the prices vary all the time and in relation to size and colour, but worth a look)

suze28 · 18/02/2015 14:32

I'm usually a 4.5 shoe and need the 3s too. They do come up big.

dotsanddashes · 18/02/2015 17:24

In the normal width I size down a full size, like everyone above. They are supposed to be roomy, your toes and heel shouldn't touch either end.

Watch out for places selling narrow width ones, like TK Maxx, as they won't necessarily say they are. I can still wear narrow width ones (I have normal fit feet, not narrow or wide usually) but I take my normal size.

I believe the footprint icon on the footprint is shown as an outline for normal width and coloured in yellow for narrow width but please check that one the Birkenstock site, it may be the other way round!

slippermaiden · 18/02/2015 17:26

I find they come up big. I'm a 7 (41) so get a 40 (6.5)

iwantgin · 18/02/2015 17:55

I buy 39 in birkenstocks. As they are quite wide I don't need to size up. Usuallly in closed shoes I buy a 7 or 41.

Can't wait for warmer weather so can get my birkenstocks out again

chocnomorechoc · 18/02/2015 20:23

Don't think they come up big. I always have a 7 and thats what I need in Birkenstocks too.

Mouthfulofquiz · 18/02/2015 20:24

I'm always a 4 in everything but Birkenstocks - where I take a 3!

butterfliesinmytummy · 18/02/2015 20:25

I wear a 39 but am a 36 in birkis, toes well inside the edge, best try in a shop if you can.

PrimalLass · 18/02/2015 20:25

I size down to a 39. I am a 7, 41 in Kurt Geiger and 40 in other brands.

SakuraSakura · 18/02/2015 20:27

I buy them in my usual size.

HmmAnOxfordComma · 18/02/2015 20:38

They're supposed to be big (long) and I always buy normal size BUT I have incredibly narrow feet so only the narrow fit are any good at all for me. Maybe the regular width come up longer as well.

RockingDuck · 18/02/2015 20:41

I am a size 9 43 bang on, with v narrow feet,
my Birkies are an 8 and on the tightest buckle hole

they seem to be generous

WagonWheel · 18/02/2015 20:44

I think it depends on the style of them. I've had the double strap ones and the clogs in the past, both of them regarded as wide fitting but I've never changed from my usual shoe size of 6/39. There are some styles they don't recommend if you are blessed with narrow feet, and I've heard that if you're a half size you should go down and not up. Would definitely recommend buying from somewhere like QVC where you can actually wear them out and return them within 30 days if not suitable because in my experience they're not comfortable immediately and you need to bed them in properly in order to judge how they mould to your own foot shape.

burnishedsilver · 18/02/2015 20:54

I find them wide. It is possible you get them in a narrower fitting rather than going down a size.

KissyBoo · 18/02/2015 21:03

I find I need my normal size in the closed clog but a size smaller in the open toe styles.
