I think there is usually a code in Grazia magazine in early March.

Does anyone know if they are doing one this year?

I would think so - god knows who would pay full price for all that viscose and polyester [helpful]

Saurus72 · 17/02/2015 19:27

I bought a beautiful dress from Whistles new collection a few weeks ago which I'm really pleased with (not polyester, huzzah!) and I started thinking about the Grazia code. Then I thought that there really isn't anything else I would like to buy from there right now, full price or not.

The whole polyester thing is v annoying - there is a gorgeous plain navy dress and a lovely floral skirt that I would love to buy and I know I would wear it them death were they a natural fabric. Obviously they're not. If course. Cos why would anyone NOT want to wear sweaty polyester in the spring/summer, and pay a fortune for it? Hmm

Annnnnnd relax.

MrsCampbellBlack · 17/02/2015 19:28

Saurus - I can't go in there anymore and used to really like the shop. Greedy whistles - it is the fact they charge such high prices for polyester etc that annoys me.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/02/2015 19:30

Agree - and the prices are getting crazier every season. I do still like some of their stuff, but only ever buy in the sales, except for the tube skirts which I still think are worth the money.

Saurus72 · 17/02/2015 20:11

The prices ARE insane I agree. But tbh, I don't want a polyester dress at any price, because I like natural fabrics.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 18/02/2015 07:03

I love their seam back tees - modal cotton mix I think. Very flattering for apples!

Like the look of their zipped bags - a bit anya hindmarch - but still too expensive.

Saurus72 · 18/02/2015 10:28

I was lucky to get a beautiful navy leather tote bag a few weeks ago in the Whistles sale. It was £135 full price, but I paid £30! Absolutely delighted with it, and all the better for being (I worked it out..!) 22% of the RRP. I also do like their shoes and boots, but again, only bought at vast discounts in the sale. I just can't justify it otherwise.

I really wish they'd sort the polyester issue out though - we surely cannot be the only ones who don't want to buy it?

Shopgirl1 · 18/02/2015 13:56

I love their tube skirts and seam back t's. I don't buy anything else from them now, awful quality, I made the mistake of buying knitwear recently, awful quality.
I live in the tube skirts so if there is a code in Grazia soon I'll be getting a new one!

Floisme · 18/02/2015 18:11

I see they're now doing a Limited Collection. Most of it seems to be viscose... £130 for a knitted tube skirt, anyone?
www.whistles.com/women/new-in/limited-edition/

I'm not sure who their customers are these days - if I could afford those kinds of prices, I'd be buying designer.

MrsGolightly · 18/02/2015 18:18

I'm a massive fan of Whistles but agree Floisme they're just not high street prices any longer. Some of their t shirts are £60 which is ridiculous. I know think twice when previously I would buy loads from them. Shame really.

MrsGolightly · 18/02/2015 18:18

now - not know!

dexter73 · 18/02/2015 18:27

I like Whistles but I only ever buy in the sales at 50% off or more.

trader21c · 19/02/2015 10:30

I've got some excellent quality Whistles T shirts and the seam backed T shirts - but usually disappointed with their knitwear - great design but can look worn quickly ...

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/02/2015 12:09

I think the problem with their knitwear is there is often a lot of viscose in it which just doesn't wash or wear well.

Although their cashmere is also poor quality.

It is a shame as used to be such a nice shop.

Silverjohnleggedit · 19/02/2015 12:48

I don't even check them out online anymore. Their prices are completely ridiculous....

Comito · 19/02/2015 13:11

I buy the odd thing from them, but I hate the high round neck which seems to be on nearly everything they sell. And yy, expensive for what it is. Mind you, I think the same about Mint Velvet.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/02/2015 18:52

Agree that the seam back t-shirts are good. I've been trying to track down the grey tube skirt - have looked in three stores so far and no joy.

cattelady · 19/02/2015 22:01

I bought a load of things in 2009-11 when Whistles had stopped making frumpy floral twinsets and still made their dresses from silk, but with interesting prints.

I don't even look these days, but still try to pick up Chie Mihara shoes after seeing them on the website.
