Bra recommendations for the little ladeez

Cuppatea14 · 14/02/2015 23:07

So I've lost my boobs again after stopping expressing for DD2. I now sport two little sad teabags hanging off my chest, max 32a, possibly 34aa.

I've always worn either pennies/primark or walcoal. These are at radically different ends of the budget with walcoal clocking in at around €70 a pop but fitting beautifully.

Any other recommendations for bras for petit fit, looking for comfort but plenty of good padding to make me look a smidge less like Humpty Dumpty.

It's often trickier to get bras to fit well in the smaller sizes, as I'm sure you've discovered.

Before you write yourself off as being that size, have you checked just how small you are around the ribs? Most of the time people wear bras too big in the band and too small in the cup.

some fitting advice here to start you off Smile

MadameJulienBaptiste · 14/02/2015 23:44

If there is ANYTHING hanging off your chest then you are not an A cup and most men I know would qualify as a AA.

MadameJulienBaptiste · 14/02/2015 23:48

Oh. Bold fail.

I'm sure statistically or Sorrelforbes will be along pronto.
In the meantime you say you are either 32 or 34.
have you actually measured yourself underbrush to get the band size?

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 14/02/2015 23:48

While we wait for the dedicated interventionists to arrive, here's a link to a previous intervention thread. It's very very unlikely that you're a 34aa - don't listen to what anyone in M&S may have told you.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 14/02/2015 23:49

I'm betting on 30C

MadameJulienBaptiste · 14/02/2015 23:49

Underbrush???? Sodding phone! I typed underBUST Grin

CuttedUpPear · 14/02/2015 23:50

I am a 34AA and have found Asda of all places to have the best fitting selection.

There was also a range in M&S that were good but that was a few years ago, I haven't been there recently.

Steer away from balcony style, you'll never fill the cups.
Good luck.

MadameJulienBaptiste · 14/02/2015 23:56

Cutteduppear I will wager my best £35 freya 34e (ex m&s 38b) that you are not a 34aa.
as the professional interventionists are taking their time appearing I must ask you to measure yourself snugly under the bust then lean forward and measure round the dangly bobs, tell us your measurements and we'll convert you to real bra sizes.
can you tell I've been on the wine this evening I'm getting all bolshy.

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/02/2015 00:19

Wanders in, waves, basically marks place as everything which needs said has been Grin

IamGrimalkin · 15/02/2015 11:18

I'm wearing a 34aa bra at the moment. I have had intervention before but i felt seriously restricted and sore in a 32 back. My under bust measurement is 28 and a half and my over bust is 30.

I do have some boobs though so an inch and a half difference doesn't seem a lot!

I've had enough of wasting money on bras. Incidently m&s put me in a 34b last time i went there but it's an M&S 34aa I have on now!

BallroomWithNoBalls · 15/02/2015 11:25

Yes to measuring yourself properly! Going down a back size or two and up a cup size or two is the best thing you can do for comfort and look.

Then my favourite bras for everyday are Calvin Klein. Rosie for Autograph at M and S do fabulous bras, my favourites for a bit more glam but order online. They go down to a 30 back. Debenhams own brand bras are also small fitting and often lovely. Often shops just don't stock smaller sizes in store but you can order lots online for free to-store delivery and try on and immediately return ones that are no good. At M and S stick to Rosie or Autograph silk ones.

Bunbaker · 15/02/2015 11:31

I used to wear a 34A and am now in a 32B thanks to the brilliant bra interventionists on here. I actually measure 29" and 33", but a 30 inch band is way too tight for me and by trial and error I found a full cup 32B T-shirt bra was the best fit. For my size I find I have plenty of choice in M and S.

I am very slim with no fat on my upper torso - no back fat and no underarm fat, and nothing to scoop.

IamGrimalkin · 15/02/2015 12:01

I might try a 32b again bunbaker. I'm like you in regards to having nothing to scoop.

Cuppatea14 · 15/02/2015 12:23

goes to mum's house to pinch a tape measure

Waits impatiently for cutup to get back...

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 15/02/2015 17:07

Like Bunbaker I moved from an M&S fitted 34A to a 32B (or 30C depending on style) after receiving an intervention from a lovely young assistant in John Lewis.

Doesn't sound like much of a change but makes a big difference to the way I look.

M&S Autograph bras are great for these run-of-the-mill sizes, as long as you don't let their fitters anywhere near you. I always check what they've got in the sale.

CuttedUpPear · 15/02/2015 22:40

MadameJulienne

31" and 34"

marriednotdead · 15/02/2015 22:54

Unusual for me to get there before you SC

I appear to not qualify as a dedicated interventionist anymore, looks like I shall have to go back to my day job Grin

CuttedUpPear that potentially gives you 32A/B or 30B/C as a start point.

The tricky bit is getting the wire/cup shape right. Often they are too curved which gives gaping at the front and digging in at the sides and underarm.

Cuppatea14 · 16/02/2015 09:31

Right I'm back! So I measured up and got 29/33... So that would make me 30C or 28D, is that what you're saying? That can't be right, seriously I have no boobage...

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 16/02/2015 09:48

It can. On a 28 band a d cup is very petite. Cup size is proportionate to band size so a 28d is significantly smaller than a 38d. Google the bra band project, really useful website showing normal women in bras which fit

Cuppatea14 · 16/02/2015 09:56

Gobsmacked. I have never ever found bras that fit me properly, and the first thing I do when I get in the door is take the wretched thing off because they are so bloody uncomfortable, I will simultaneously weep and cheer if the reason has been that my size has been wrong all these years.

My next question - they are weird sizes that I've just landed on, most shops only start at 32", any advice on where to shop? I'm in Ireland so asda is out but most of the other shops are the same.

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 16/02/2015 10:20

Debenhams is probably your best bet for initial try on, or John lewis if you have them?

boodles · 16/02/2015 10:22

I have small breasts and I wear comfort bras from asda. I am glad to be free of under wires and these bras are what they say, comfy!

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 16/02/2015 14:31

Marks and Spencer have several branches in Ireland, and have loads of styles in 30C - you might need to order in though if you're making a special trip. 28 inches gets a bit more specialist though. John Lewis do a handful of styles but you want to try on not order online, Debenhams is worth a try if you have a large one near you although their Irish website seems to have some strange sizing gaps compared to the UK one.

Haggisfish · 16/02/2015 14:38

Oooh intervene on me please! I'm 30 inches round 35 dangling. Further complicated by quite wide set boobs-classic champagne glass style!
