I'm really bored with it, it's just there, it floats & is fine but plentiful, I've cropped it, I've fringed it, I need to leap out of bed every day and be pleased with it.

That's impossible though, isn't it?

I will pay, I have before, but they give me a silly style that needs tons of blow drying, I ain't that girl.

I think I might go for a blunt fringe again, you lot give tons of good advice.

Help!

I like the cut Stare it really suits you, but I have a kink, it would be a pain up the arse to get it to fall like that.

It would be horizontal.

stareatthetvscreen · 14/02/2015 03:44

horizontal :)

DontDrinkandFacebook · 14/02/2015 03:46

You have lovely bone structure so I think you'd look great with a 70's very short pudding basin bob like Purdey from the New Avengers. It needs a really good, strong cut though, but if it's done well it should just swish into place each day with little work.

DontDrinkandFacebook · 14/02/2015 03:46

You really suit a fringe

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 14/02/2015 04:07

I quite like to wear it up though, which I can't with a fringe or cropped...hmmm. I loves a quiff.

Your hair is gorgeous. Do not cut it. Shorter hair is aging . It is though!! It doesn't look that fine. It looks great but in the very first photo, it looks a bit like bed-head. How about a babyliss big hair, to give it a bit of volume and swish?

AgathaF · 14/02/2015 07:20

I love your hair! You don't need to change it.

The fringe suits you . What about a layered messy bob, just a bit shorter than what you've got. If you can still look cool with that bed head look, you can probably get away with anything.

tackytiger · 14/02/2015 08:53

You're just bored! I make this mistake all the time - decide I want a change and do something which I then regret. Love my hair short but it is so much more faff than having long hair you can just pull up or plait or do a messy bun or quiff.
I'm currently growing out a short bob into a mumsy mid-length on my way back to my longer hair.
Also currently sporting a much-regretted blunt fringe (again looks nice on me but needs blow-drying and I don't have time in the mornings).

Leave it as it is and practice different styles? Dutch braids/ back combing/ 70s style flicks?

Crops aren't aging! Well, not on beautiful slim faces with good bone structure.

Truckingalong · 14/02/2015 13:32

Ok, agreed, on the young and beautiful, short hair is fine. On anyone else, it's aging.

Twinklestein · 14/02/2015 15:13

I like the length in the OP, it looks French and sexy. You just need a good expensive cut to give it a shape that holds over time.

I would go more for a young Charlotte Rampling than Charlotte Gainsbourg.

KikitheKitKat · 14/02/2015 15:27

Maybe your current cut with a bit of product added to define the hair more. Wax? Help me here hairdressers!

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 17/02/2015 21:47

Thanks for all the thoughts, I didn't bugger off, just had a madly busy few days, I think Tacky might be right, I DO get bored, and I found a crop hard work (& yes, it is aging, which is why there's only one slightly strange photo of me with it, at 41 I need all the help I can get).

I like Fab's suggestions, & yes, not young Rampling, but maybe mid-era Rampling might work, from the looks of it we have similar hair, it's not fine per se, it's individually fine hair, but large in number and volume, ergo - unruly.

I was at a friend's house on Saturday after a night out and apparently, at three in the morning, just before I lay my head on the table I looked like Tina Turner in her Nutbush City Limits years.

I think the key is probably to work with what I have rather than constantly getting irritated and trying to mould it in to something it's never going to be.

Go for some dramatic color- ombré. But don't fuck with the length, it's the tits as it is.

burnishedsilver · 17/02/2015 21:52

Have you tried a 12 week blow dry?

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 17/02/2015 21:53

Oh & I tried Babyliss Big Hair, it was ok-ish (and still lurks in my cupboard) but I am pretty low maintenance when it comes to actually in any way being bothered with doing my hair (which is probably why I keep veering around with different styles, hoping for an answer).

OP posts:
HoundoftheBaskervilles · 17/02/2015 21:54

Ohhh, what the fuck it this 12 week blow dry Burnished? Sounds right up my street (see above post).

OP posts:
HoundoftheBaskervilles · 17/02/2015 22:01

I used to get a weekly blow dry when I was a pre-child city dweller, & that really worked, I had it at a similar length to the original photo & a very similar style, wore it down for the first three days and up for the last four. Only ever had it washed at the salon. So shoot me, I still only wash it once a week, it keeps the wildness under control.

SwedishEdith · 17/02/2015 22:12

I think your hair in the OP is the best style. I really like it.

SwedishEdith · 17/02/2015 22:14

You remind me of Anna Chancellor so maybe google her hair?

burnishedsilver · 17/02/2015 22:38

It's also called a Brazilian blow dry
this
I've never had one myself as my hair is dead straight but I used to work with a woman who had it done and her hair looked amazing.

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 17/02/2015 22:56

Burnished, I think this may be just what I'm looking for.

Thank YOU.
