Skin help for dd

Dd is only 11 but has started to get really spotty, as have a fair few girls in her class. When I was their age it was paint stripping clearasil but I'm after some less harsh suggestions to get for her. She currently washes her face with 'nice' soap l'Occitane etc, but am wondering if I should get her some special skincare stuff given the breakouts.

I'm just starting to look into it for my dd 12. She has been using tea tree stuff from body shop as a recommendation from a friend. It hasn't really had any time to make a huge difference but she seems to like it.

When I was a teen the doctor prescribed some harsh lotion which did nothing, nor did any of the products marketed at problem skin and I tried them ALL! What did work was Lush's Herbalism. Amazing stuff. Doesn't smell very nice, but doesn't have nasties and won't dry out young skin.

DS uses this . I use it when I have a break out too and it's lovely and gentle.

I had bad skin as a teenager and I hugely regret not getting it sorted out sooner because I've been left with a lot of acne scarring (and I only had averagely bad skin). The only thing that worked for me was the contraceptive pill. No other cleanser or treatment touched it and they mostly made my skin dry and sensitive too. I would read up on it very carefully and definitely avoid anything harsh and drying. Good luck, it was years of misery for me. Sorry to be so gloomy!

My DS has teenage spots - the only things I can convince him to use are Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating liquid with cotton pads, Quinoderm for the actual spots and Cetaphil in the shower.

DD is 12 (no spots) she uses Soap and Glory Drama Clean (micelar water) and a dot of Astral or Nivea Soft.

I have really oily skin and although I am much older than your DD i still get spots....the only 2 things that ever worked for me were a face wash prescribed by the GP that smelt of bleach (!) and my Clarisonic. I am on my third Clarisonic now and nothing cleans my skin so well. If I go away for a few days without it, my skin always breaks out again. They are pricey though.
