Need inspiration, dinner/opera outfit

Spent a pointless day slogging round the shops and ended up with a bargain £15 blue jumper from H&M

What I need is a dress or outfit to wear to the opera and dinner next week.

Help, need inspiration out of jeans/jumper rut.

5 ft 10 , size 12 in Spanx , long body so waist lines never sit right.
Willing to throw some cash at the problem.

Oh and no kate lace sleeved rip off dresses, can't stand them, scratchy, itchy, horrid.

Lots of shops do tall ranges online but not instore - is there anything you like there?

Usually find tall range just swamps me but a lot of waistlines cut too high in the normal range.
Love some of the Asos dresses.

Boy I should have thought of this a few weeks ago when all the Christmas stuff was on sale.
