Which outfit for dinner birthday party thing at the weekend?

I am short on cash (so will return what I don't wear) and large of body

I have either a plain black long skirt or plain black midi skirt to wear with either...

black silk top from Cos. I can't find it online but it's a bit like this but with shorter 3/4 length sleeves and a drawstring round the bottom but you don't really notice it. So v similar to www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Tops/Long-sleeved_silk_top/46885-16207384.1#c-85346 fairly fitted on me.

Neither perfect but I'm v fat so don't have much choice and no time for shopping.

I think the Cos one is the nicer of the two. If you want to tell me what size/colours you like I could have a browse for you, something patterned or in a different colour might be good, the white Asos is a bit summery (and i always have a problem with wearing white top/black skirt because I used to have to wear that waitressing but that's my baggage not yours )

This may be an entirely pointless thread anyway because I've just put on the ASOS top and now I think it's too tight around my arms...! Oh dear.

I'm a 20 ish but this cos one is 18 and fitting ok. Being black silk it's more of a charcoal colour, so it will be a different tone to my skirts which are jet black viscose things

I have another Cos top. Very pale blue, short sleeves, textured. A fancy oversized tshirt basically.

I like the black lace one. I think all black is fine, sophisticated! You could do a nice mani with 'rouge-noir' dark red or bright fluro pink to add a splash of colour if you want to? I always think nice nails can make an outfit, especially at a dinner where your hands are "on show"
