Recommend me some trainers (pumps/plimsoll type)

I have an ancient pair of Boden tan leather lace-up pumps that I'm getting sick of - what can I replace them with? I mainly need them for wearing with skinnies. In the summer I love Bensimon-style tennis elastic pumps but I'd like something lace-up that's good for spring and autumn. Are Supergas all they've cracked up to be?

I like my supergas, but they are quite heavy. I found converse too narrow, I've got quite wide feet and the supergas are right on. Half sizes too which is nice, and a good range of colours. Bought purple ones on sale last September, navy never seem to go in the sale tho! I'd have another pair but not sure they are worth the full retail price tbh.

I have a pair of new look plimsolls if I am going somewhere dirty with the DC, as I don't mind them getting battered. Cheap enough to replace at about £12 per pair.

I agree, Supergas are quite weighty. I have wide size 6 feet and love my Converse. I've got red, white and charcoal ones.

These are not to everyone's taste but I've bought these for spring/summer: www.next.co.uk/x552320s7#948720x55

You could try Naos, v light but not very waterproof, or vejas.

Skechers Bobs with memory foam inner sole. Look like supergas but I walked round nyc in mine for 4 days, super comfy!

iwantgin · 11/02/2015 07:37

I love Supergas too.

My feet are just a little wider than average- I find them perfect. They seem more padded inside, not so flat to the floor ? I have a few pairs and have been buying them for teen DS too.

There are always some in the sale if you don't want pay full price for your first pair.

def supergas, i have some white ones and am planning more, they're comfy and look good

Juno321 · 11/02/2015 08:08

I love my converse, the dainty ones. I find the style less clumpy than the original and goes well with more outfits. So comfy and long lasting too

Silverjohnleggedit · 11/02/2015 08:41

I love Spring Court - good spongy insole, very comfortable. I wear Stan Smith's as my winter option.

CointreauVersial · 11/02/2015 18:55

I really want some Superga. I never seem to find the ones I want in the sales.

Chchchchanging · 11/02/2015 20:35

For summer toms

yazzy85 · 11/02/2015 23:20

I love my converse but can't wear them for very long as they are a bit too narrow in the front.

Laquila · 12/02/2015 08:07

Thanks very much everyone - lots of googling to be done now! I also find Converse a tiny bit narrow, actually. The best pumps I ever had were from New Look, as a previous poster recommends - sooo comfy! They only ever seem to have crazy sequinned ones or plain black and white now though.

Found some nice grey Supergas on sale on Amazon - are they true to size?

DarylDixonsDarlin · 12/02/2015 11:41

I find mine exactly true to size Laquila. I've got a 5.5 and I wear either a 5 or 6 from everywhere else. I wear mine with thin socks in the cooler months and I don't find them loose in the hotter months with bare feet, as my feet are warmer then and so they are big enough to take up the sockless gap!

Laquila · 12/02/2015 12:02

Excellent, thanks Daryl - I'll go for a 6.5

I love supergas too and find them really hard wearing and comfortable. I have quite narrow feet but still can't wear Converse as the give me blisters on the heel.

Skinheadmermaid · 12/02/2015 18:25

Try some cheap plimsoles from primark. They have loads of slip ons and lace ups.
Do you like the look of more runner style trainers? How about new balance or Nike pegasus?
I've been wearing converse for years but they're not great for the feet.

CointreauVersial · 13/02/2015 00:16

Ooh, Laquila, I'll go hunting on Amazon, then.....

LadyB49 · 13/02/2015 03:51

I got a pair of blue Fat Face in TK Maxx in store for £9 yesterday.

Laquila · 19/02/2015 12:05

Just updating tos at that I got some Supergas and I'm pleased with them - 6.5 seems pretty true to size and the Mushroom colour is a very useful greige (boring, I know!). They do feel a bit squishier than Converse and my old Boden pumps.
