Leather/pleather leggings

Just wondering how those who posted previously about being unsure have got on???
Did you invest in a real pair? Did you go for pleather after some persuasion?
I've got both and have happily worn for a few years so I'm curious and looking for updates Grin

After I returned my H&M ones for being too noisy, I haven't looked at pleather again. Would love to try leather, but the budget won't stretch to it.

CointreauVersial · 09/02/2015 18:50

Noisy?! Shock I hadn't considered that aspect. Squeak, squeak, do you mean?

What put me off pleather were all the reports of splitting back seams. No one needs to see my arse.

But interested to know how people got on...

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 09/02/2015 18:55

I still have my pleather leggings, and may get leather. One day...

cardamomginger · 09/02/2015 18:58

Squeak, rustle, squeak, rustle, squeak, rustle. It was too much.

It might just be me though. These were the same ones that Belinda wears very successfully. Maybe my legs move in a funny way? Did you try the Aussie Ebay people Belinda?

LesleyKnopeFan · 09/02/2015 19:01

Ooh, I did a thread in this. Have a pair from new look, 12.99, very pleased with them, don't squeak Grin and look pretty real. Only prob is they have no grip round the muffin top, so they keep falling down!

myknickersknackersknockers · 09/02/2015 19:02

I got some from Amazon before Christmas. They look about a size 4 off (rather than the 14 they are) I've not dared try them on yet as wasn't ready for the humiliation of struggling into them.

Just tried them now and they look nice. Far more flattering than I imagined.

These were about £6.99 and feel think and look ok. Worth trying a cheapy pair before investing in some expensive ones.

loads of threads on this

recent ones too

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 09/02/2015 19:53

cardamom - no, as I don't think I can return them. I also got distracted by sales shopping. Might revisit the idea later.

I have 2 pairs of TopShop pleathers in size 10 if anyone wants them? One pair is more like size 8. Just PM me. The H&M ones fit me better

cardamomginger · 09/02/2015 20:07

Belilnda - are you a 10 in the H&M? If so, I might say yes???? Will PM you.

brakespeare · 09/02/2015 21:37

I got the h and m ones in a charity shop for a fiver, in a khaki colour. I love them with skate shoes and a big jumper. Unfortunately the 8 would fit much better. They do stretch a bit and I think that a bit like skinny jeans, you need to start the day feeling they're a bit of a squueze for them to be a good fit. Maybe this is just me, but if they still have them I'd buy the smaller size h and m ones. I never go actual shopping so have no idea if you can still get them.

brakespeare · 09/02/2015 21:39

Mine might not be "the" h and m ones referenced above of course, but they're pleather all over with a side zip.

Greengardenpixie · 09/02/2015 22:11

Well i bought a pair of coated skinny jeans for the same type of effect. Had them on today. They felt good. I wore them with a black A-line tunic from Toast and my biker boots. They are a small fit so bought them in a 14 but normally a 12. Got them on House of Fraser for about £30. Feel less self conscious wearing these than actual leather or pvc.

Goodwordguide · 09/02/2015 22:34

I got the Zara ones after they were recommended in the Guardian (£25.99). I got medium and am usually an 8/10 and they fit great. They are super comfortable and - best of all - very warm. They are not completely silent however...

CointreauVersial · 09/02/2015 22:45

Agree with Greengardenpixie - coated jeans are a bit "safer" . I have a lovely DP pair.

Greenstone · 09/03/2015 12:13

Right my River Island leather look leggings have just arrived. Had admired them on friend so was curious to try. I like the look of them and really hope I'm not too old at 31! Would love to hear what outfits other wearers are doing. Have some great zara heels for very dressy occasions but will realistically need to wear flatter shoes.

FrugalFashionista · 09/03/2015 18:02

I have the cheaper version from H&M (burgundy, no zipper) and they are not noisy at all!
