Help me decide how to wear this:

So I've a beautiful maxi skirt, black sequins, looks lovely on. Going out at teh end of the month to a comedy club, for a meal and then drinks in Bristol.

I've decided I finally want to wear it, it's not too dressy.....but I've nothing to wear it with? Im going shopping specifically to get something to match it, so ideas please? And how best to accesorise?

A really simple vest top with a statement necklace would work. Or possibly a cropped, wide T-shirt style top(will see if I can a picture)

Because the skirt is glitzy I would keep the top and shoes simple.

I like it though.

A nice plain boxy top with necklace would look nice.

Or a fine knit jumper tucked in again with a necklace.

Or a plain v neck t shirt tucked in!

Hope this link works. Like I said the simple vests and tshirts work and I also like the blazer over the top too.

Personally, I think sequins are 'December wear' and I'm not convinced it's not, 'a bit much' for your planned evening. Therefore, I think you'll need to dress it down a lot, if you want to wear it.

I'd pair it with a v simple top (black or grey), a biker jacket (black or grey) and heeled ankle boots, but tbh that's what I'd pair pretty much everything with!

V simple jewelry - maybe a pewter cuff, or just simple silver drop earrings.

Or a black or grey turtle neck, with boots.

I agree with Remus that sequins are very Decembery...but with a bit of thought and attitude, you can make it work.

Scotslass's Pinterest link shows a Donna Karan version styled with a grey v-neck fine knit, heels and a grey envelope clutch.
I think, for a comedy club, that's the way to go.

Trust me, where I'm going and who with, sequins are okay all year round :-)

I can't imagine a comedy club where sequins wouldn't be OTT, but I don't agree they're Christmas only.

I think a black top might make it look like an evening dress, so I'd wear it with a plain tight cream short-sleeved tshirt and a black leather jacket.
