Rules surrounding dress code for a daytime wedding?

My sister and I are both mid 30's and are having a disagreement Smile. and I'd be grateful if you could settle it for us Smile

We are both invited to a formal wedding this summer and will be attending the ceremony and evening party. There is a dress that is totally covered in rose gold sequins, above the knee and sleeveless. The outer dress surface is 100% sequins.

I maintain that a fully sequinned dress is not appropriate for the daytime ceremony, she should wear something more subtle and change into the sequinned dress for the evening.

She says that I'm old fashioned and sequins are acceptable daytime wedding wear.

Opinions? Smile

I think it sounds fabulous and I would definitely wear it.

I went to a wedding recently and one of the guests was wearing a floor-length silver sequinned dress - she looked absolutely amazing.

If she's there all day right into the evening I'd say it's fine.

Hmm, sleeveless and above knee, I probably wouldn't. Can you link the dress?

Also depends on how old the wearer is.

Change into it for the evening. Definitely too much for daytime.

I would just put a jacket on over it for daytime

Too much for the daytime Shock

It sounds a bit too much for daytime, and also a bit Christmassy. She may regret her choice when she is mingling with guests wearing pastels and florals at a summer wedding.

I think a totally sequinned dress in the middle of summer sounds too much. She will look like she mistakenly though she was going to a cocktail party.
