Shoes for plantar fasciitis?

What does S&B think? I'm fed up wearing trainers as I'm 43 and did the trainers thing years ago. Converse etc are a no no, as is anything too flat or unstructured. I'm not ready for orthopaedic shoes just yet.

Ouch! I empathise... I do wear trainers when they work with what I'm wearing, (still like my New Balance, and am a bit older than you) but agree that you need something with a bit of a heel. How about skate shoes with a decent sole on? I wear mine with the Boots plantar fasciitis gel heel inserts, which I do find work quite well.

I find that my loafers/brogues are best, as there is enough of a heel (couple of cms at least) and plenty of upper for support, and sadly I now never wear heels over 8cm high, and then only in the evenings. Anything v flat and unsupportive like ballet flats are a total no-no, and sadly many summer sandals seem to be problematic in that respect.

Out of interest, is this the first 'episode' that you've suffered, or have you found that the Pf has recurred?

Thanks for your reply. I've had pf before, had steroid injections which worked a treat but unfortunately it's now back with a vengeance!
