I was just looking at toast stuff. It all looks frumpy to me.

scarletforya · 06/02/2015 20:44

Euw! Frumptastic!

Greengardenpixie · 06/02/2015 20:45

ha ha..i usually like there simple tunics. I do like this:

but i spent so much in their sale this year. So many lovely things and at great prices. I got a lovely striped tunic for £29 and the quality of cotton is just beautiful. Wore it to work and it was so comfy. Im disappointed with the new stuff but then they add new things monthly. I wonder what happened to their archive sales???

oh and i must justify my liking for that tunic by saying..not with those shoes and bare legs.

With that culottes outfit, i am surprised they get any sales!

sackofpotatoes.com !!

even the models look more fed up than normal.

Toast is baffling to me.
minimum of £150 for something that looks for all the world to me like something from the M&S Granny's Classic range.

dexter73 · 06/02/2015 21:05

I agree with WipsGlitter - everything on the Toast website is frumptastic and droopy.

Greengardenpixie · 06/02/2015 21:06

yes, she must be so embaressed wearing that. Its awful on her.

Ooh no I don't get toast. It says "I wish I was an architect but I'm actually a librarian". I'm only saying that because my neighbour wears a lot of Toast and she actually is a librarian (although one with enough disposable income to buy Toast).

Greengardenpixie · 06/02/2015 21:12

A librarian..yes thats it!!!
I do like and have a few things by them but the skirts have never been nice. I have some beautiful tunics that i have bought in the sales but i just dont get some of their clothes. I mean seriously, who would wear that ensemble?
In a previous post it said to post what your idea of frumpy is.
That model wearing that outfit..thats totally frumpy to me. It totally encapsulates what frumpy is imo!

That first tunic you linked to looks like something a dental nurse would wear over some white trousers and a pair of clogs!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/02/2015 21:43

I think that styled differently and on somebody really tall and slim and a bit 'quirky' looking, the culottes 'could' look good. I'm thinking really high heels and a fitted black turtle neck, maybe.

I don't like any of those tunics.

Greengardenpixie · 06/02/2015 21:43

Dexter..i know, i was just thinking that!! But it would look ok with tights /leggings or boots and a chunky pendant.

Good Lord! They are some of the worst clothes I have ever ever seen! Who buys them??? What age bracket are they aiming at? I think they hope ironic hipster type 20-somethings will wear them but in reality it is 40-somethings with the cash to afford it!

I had culottes waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in about 1989 / 90 and they were from Next when Next was cool (at least in my city) I had a plum colored pair and I LOVED them, I was a teenager then.

I don't like any of that toast stuff that has been linked to, very shapeless.

Greengardenpixie · 06/02/2015 21:49

I kind of like shapeless but not overly so. I am not fussed with things with a waist and belts irritate me. I do like a bit of shape though, like an a-line shape. I do love a simple tunic with tights.leggings. That is me.

Culottes. Ugh. They never, ever dont look frumpy.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/02/2015 21:59

Non frumpy culottes

Greengardenpixie · 06/02/2015 22:01

I think thats the key. If they are not trying to look like a skirt, you can pull them off. More like a wide leg cropped trouser.
