Winter boots (again!) - which of these two.

polyhymnia · 06/02/2015 20:02

Please help me resolve my chronic indecision about winter boots, so I can actually get some before spring comes.

I want something warm, comfortable, not too clumpy, with zip and easy to get on and off, and that has a good grip. Preferably something that can be worn walking round town as well as country when weather is cold/ snowy.

Have reduced it to these two (I think). Views/ votes, please.

I had more or less decided on the first till someone on here said they were a struggle to get on and off and I was at same time reminded of how good Merrell are.

TIA

Well i have never had either of these makes but i do know that merrell are good quality. If it were only on looks i like the ugg boots. Im not fussed for the merrell ones...but then i like a biker boot.

DontKillMyVibe · 06/02/2015 20:08

On looks alone - the uggs.

Valsoldknickers · 06/02/2015 20:09

I prefer the first pair. You should go with your gut!

Lyinginwait888 · 06/02/2015 20:11

I like them both, but if I had to choose I'd go uggs.

babyboo1and2 · 06/02/2015 20:13

I have the pair of uggs, they are not a problem to put on at all, very comfy and super warm

Heebiejeebie · 06/02/2015 21:59

I sent back those merrell ones, they turned up at the toes like gnome boots.

TheHoundsBitch · 06/02/2015 22:04

The Uggs are much nicer.

MatildaTheCat · 06/02/2015 22:04

Was just about to dis Uggs but then secretly fell a little in love with these. Def more stylish and versatile of the two pairs.

Just to throw a spanner in the works have you checked out Fly London? Their heels are super comfy and just a bit more flattering and girly than flats.

Greengardenpixie · 06/02/2015 22:14

heebie lol @ your gnome boots!!! Grin

dexter73 · 06/02/2015 22:21

It's the Uggs for me.

Kthmai · 06/02/2015 23:11

The uggs r lovely but I really struggle to get on and off. I hAve friend with same pair and she says the same. I still wear them but they can be a pain sometimes if there's nobody there to help pull them! They wipe clean much better than normal uggs and don't get as wet either

rubybleu · 07/02/2015 09:44

I have the Merrell boots and they are great in ice and snow. They're also very warm. I find them a bit clumpy so I only wear them in ice/snow/standing around in a muddy field.

The Uggs are much nicer looking but they themselves state that the suede will discolour in snow and rain, so it depends on why you need them.

jackandjilly · 07/02/2015 09:46

Another vote for the Yggdrasil

jackandjilly · 07/02/2015 09:46

Uggs!!!

PrimalLass · 07/02/2015 15:31

The Uggs. That style has a full zip and if fine to get on and off.

NellysKnickers · 07/02/2015 16:03

I have the Merrell. Love them. The previous pair of Merrell boots I bought are still going strong 5 years on, so I know they last. Love mine with jeans or thick woolly tights.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 07/02/2015 17:16

I have those uggs and they are great. I find them ok to get on and off and haven't needed any help.

Not sure how good they would be in proper snowy weather or really wet. I suspect the merrel would be better for that.

Lambzig · 07/02/2015 19:44

I have the Merrell ones. No gnome effect with mine.

I think they are super warm, really saving my feet on the school run these cold mornings. However, I have to say they are not the most stylish and I do only wear them for school run and country walks as I do feel a bit frumpy in them.
