AvonCallingBarksdale · 05/02/2015 12:13

Just about to order a coat - does their stuff come up big, small or true to size? I'm a 12/14 have accepted that I'm not a straight 12 at the mo
TIA

Comes up on the small side, particularly on tops (made for petite Japanese ladies); 12-14 would probably be a Large.

But don't they have free returns? Just order multiple sizes.

dexter73 · 05/02/2015 13:30

I find that there tops are true to size personally! I get a medium and am a size 12. As Cointreau says, order a medium and a large to try.

MatildaTheCat · 05/02/2015 13:32

Oh dear, this is definitely going to confuse the OP, I find their sizes come up big. I'm a 12 on top and always buy S orXS. Trousers maybe more true but don't buy them often.

Their Heat Tech vests are awesome btw Smile

gonegrey56 · 05/02/2015 13:34

I have only bought the down jackets. I am a busty size 10/12, and bought medium size. I now wish I had bought Large, as the medium is very snug on me .

YoniMitchell · 05/02/2015 13:38

I'm a size 10 and buy tops, skirts and dresses in small, trousers in medium (bit hit and miss though and all soooo long!) and have a down jacket in a medium, to allow for me to wear clothes underneath!

SirVixofVixHall · 05/02/2015 13:38

I am also a busty 10/12 and I buy a medium (I have a small frame, narrow back, G cup bust). But in some things I wish I'd bought the large. If you are small breasted then you will be fine with a size smaller than if you are busty most likely, as they are Japanese there isn't much bosom room, Japanese women are small chested generally.

nipersvest · 05/02/2015 13:39

i find it true to size, don't have any trousers from there but have tops, dresses and a coat, i am a 12 and all are a medium.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 05/02/2015 14:07

Thank you! Right, I'm going to opt for the large and medium and see. Smile

10-12 small boobed here and I buy everything in medium, the odd top in small Smile

ireallydontlikemonday · 05/02/2015 14:42

Ime trousers are titchy - don't go anywhere near me. I have the down coat in large and it fits perfectly. I'm a 16 all over.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 05/02/2015 14:53

Ah, I've just seen that they have down and ultra down. I'm torn between this and this

Any opinions?

OP posts:
SirVixofVixHall · 05/02/2015 15:40

The ultra light down is very light indeed, which is nice to wear as it sort of floats around you, but the other coat might be warmer.

maggiso · 05/02/2015 16:05

I am a petite but busty 8-10 in M+S/Next etc and usually buy a S in tops and coats in ladies wear, however they can be quite small on the bust (I suspect Japanese ladies are less curvy especially up top). Occasionally I buy a M. It can be a bit variable. Heattech I buy S and get M for a 12-14 family member. Trousers seem to me to be more generous, but it depends on the style. The men's stuff is about a size or more smaller than an M+S equivalent. I agree get 2 sizes and send the wrong one back!

maggiso · 05/02/2015 16:11

PS If you want a proper warm coat I would go for full coat not the UL one. I use an UL under a thinner coat - its more the warmth of a thick jumper but not windproof, and certainly not waterproof (its not meant to be). I don't have a uniqlo proper down coat. The UL is useful to carry around when you might need an extra layer as it folds up so tiny, though. Bargains!

maggiso · 05/02/2015 16:26

Sorry I see the UL one is water resistant! Oops. Mine is last years and is not!

maybemyrtle · 05/02/2015 16:32

My Uniqlo tops range from XS to L and I'm a 10, although I do find their coats/jackets quite neatly cut especially on the upper arms and M usually works best. Free returns and they're quick to refund. Plus I enjoy being called a "super great customer" Grin

Olinguito · 05/02/2015 18:14

I have the ultra light down coat, in small. It is quite a snug fit on me, and would be too tight if I weren't so flat chested! (I'm an 8/10 in most shops). It's fine for a moderately cold day, but not warm enough for when it's really freezing. I haven't had a chance to try out its water resistant qualities yet.

carrielou2007 · 05/02/2015 18:38

Ooh I love the one reduced to £40!! I want it in the purple colour though

AvonCallingBarksdale · 05/02/2015 19:31

I've gone for the down one - reduced from £89.99 to £39.99 - cannot resist the bargain! carrielou2007, I would have liked the purple, too, but not available, so have plumped for dark brown. Looking forward to feeling toasty!!

OneDayWhenIGrowUp · 05/02/2015 19:38

Size 12, F boobs, usually get a M for tops/jumpers but got L coat, the coats came up smaller on boobage

Nix01 · 05/02/2015 19:46

I have that coat in a medium. I'm a 10/12 but flat chested.

carrielou2007 · 05/02/2015 21:33

I'm going to order one, can't resist at that price SmileSmile

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/02/2015 22:03

I'm a 14-16 in stores

I buy jumpers/tops in Large and though the Large jacket fitted me, I went for XL because I wanted space for a jumper and I have excessively long arms

brakespeare · 05/02/2015 22:23

I have the dark brown. It is not a looker. At all. However, if you're not too vain, it's amazingly warm, best coat I've ever had. Mine is 5years old and I love it, even if it is really really brown:)

AvonCallingBarksdale · 06/02/2015 11:00

brakespeare, you're making me nervous now!! It looks more of a chocolate colour online clutches at straws. I would really have liked the purple, but no luck there. We'll see - I am drawn to the idea of warmth in a big way, though Smile
