I don't really do formal so I've no idea! All ideas welcome. Will a hat be compulsory?!

Well you will know what colours you like, but I think it has to be a dress. Patterned of some kind and a long cardigan. Kitten heels, and matching handbag and contrasting fascinator.
There are lovely dresses in TKMax and Monsoon. I suggest a multicoloured Jersey dress in a navy print/ or flowery pattern. A navy long cardigan. Navy accessories. Navy is slimming and not as Funeral like as black.

You can pick out one of the colours in the print to contrast with. For instance if there is grey in the print you could have a grey cardigan, grey handbag, navy shoes and a navy fascinator. Hats can be got at any Charity shop. You can then try your outfit with a hat and not lose much money if you don't like it, as you will not wear it again.

Of course if you have more money you can go to Harrods Personal Shopper and get sorted.

Thanks, some great ideas! Sadly Harrods is out of my price bracket so high street it is! Now I just need to manoeuvre some time away from the DCs for some serious shopping Smile

Yes you should wear a hat

What's your style / shape / budget etc?

Is it a very posh wedding? I'd not wear a jersey dress and cardi to a wedding. What about Boden?
