I have ordered a flowery pair and a patent pair...but i cant decide which ones to keep as i like both. So thought i would look for guidance from you lot!!
So here:
Flowery ones:www.next.co.uk/g6h4138s1#816930g6h
Patent ones:www.next.co.uk/g6h3138s3#940311g6h

Schuh have an EBay outlet and you can filter by Dr martens brand and size.

36 quid!

Greengardenpixie · 29/01/2015 11:24

Yes that is them green mouse. The print is slightly more in your face ifkwim. I do like the ones from ebay. Thanks for your opinion. I think the ones from ebay are more subtle and more wearable tbh.

I would worry about the patent leather cracking or scuffing, and not being as long lasting as plain leather ones.

I like the flowery ones but best if you wear mostly plain clothes really.

I love my purple leather ones and black suede Serena ("fur" lined) ones.

imjustahead · 29/01/2015 12:44

be careful with the patent ones they can crack with wear.

all of them are made in China now. would love to afford a proper hand made in England pair.

Greengardenpixie · 29/01/2015 14:34

That is a very good point actually. I have had patent leather fly boots and the patent leather peeled off. It made the boots look rubbish. Thanks for that thought. It would make me a bit paranoid when wearing them!

Greengardenpixie Doctor Martens have a factory shop at Wollaston.
I have had a fair few bargains from there over the years Smile

Greengardenpixie · 29/01/2015 15:36

Sadly i dont live anywhere near wollaston...but thanks. :)

I have some patent dr marten shoes from the diva collection, I've had them ages and they haven't cracked and still look like new but the quality may have gone downhill since then.
I love both of your choices of boots and i have actually been thinking of getting some of the patent ones until I saw the flowery ones from next and now I want those too.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 29/01/2015 21:14

I have the belladonna ones and I bloody love them. They are fine in a bit of rain as the sole is so think. I wear a lot of colourful prints and I don't care too much if the prints clash they usually do but having them in black means they do look fine with blue, black or even my purple jeans.

Greengardenpixie · 29/01/2015 21:15

I still havent really decided Confused I only have until tomorrow and i need to make my decision as the courier comes to take them back. Decisions decisions....

I got mine on amazon for £70

CaptainAnkles · 29/01/2015 21:19

Love the flowery ones, can't stand patent leather. I would go for plain ones otherwise just because they would go with more things, but not nasty shiny ones. So, I'd keep the flowery ones.

Greengardenpixie · 29/01/2015 21:25

Think im going to keep the flowery ones. Then i will will a plain pair later on at some point. Thanks. Will double check my decision tomorrow just before i wrap up!!

Oooh! I have the exact patent pair and I wear them loads. The patent hasn't begun to crack but I am told that you can rub in Vaseline (or a special cream from shoe shops) to prevent this. I bought mine off eBay for about £60 IIRC.

That said the flowery ones are good and I want a pair! The only thing stopping me is that my 15 year old DD is also after a pair and both of us wearing them might be a bit tragic!

Greengardenpixie · 30/01/2015 09:03

ha ha..yeh not that great if you dd was to wear the same! Mind you, you could get a different pair from hers. I remember thinking that about clothes. My dd is 8 had on a dress. I was going to put one on and it had a similar print. I thought the better of it!!
There are different patterns with dm's so you could get another design. Will get the black patent ones at some point.

50ShadesOfSummer · 30/01/2015 11:42

I remember when my DD was about 6 she came out of her room (pleased to have dressed herself) in a dress that was similar to the one I was wearing and was so happy ("Mummy! We look the same!") that even though I was Hmm I had to keep it on.

Wouldn't get that from a 15 year old!

Greengardenpixie · 30/01/2015 15:08

Im sure you wouldnt. I tried my flowery ones on [cant wear them atm as its been snowing] and they looked nice :) [well i thought so anyway!]

RavenRose · 30/01/2015 17:16

I have several pairs of the patent ones. Despite being worn a lot there's been no cracking. My Gracie patent ones are my usual work boots and are fine despite being about three years old now. They've had some pretty heavy wear too

Also want to say thanks for the next links. I love the leopard print ones next to your flowered ones! Couldn't resist them and should be here tomorrowSmile

Greengardenpixie · 30/01/2015 17:21

The leopard print ones are lovely too! I am a more flowery person though! Next day delivery is great :)

WanderingTrolley1 · 30/01/2015 18:07

I love DMs, but wouldn't wear flowery ones - patent so much nicer.

GreenMouse · 31/01/2015 19:05

My DD had some patent low lace up DMs school shoes, so heavy use, and they cracked so badly that there's a hole in one of them! Having said that she didn't really look after them very well...

Good link Ehric, thanks!

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 01/02/2015 14:21

I got some purple DMs yesterday so now I have 2 pairs. Would have been cheaper to buy a red dress to go with the red pair I had, but where would the fun be in that?

Shonajay · 01/02/2015 15:08

Those tattoo ones are gorgeous! Dd has the patent ones, I love them. My favourites ever are the ankle ones with a sheepskin lining and three buckles, the only pair of docs that feel like slippers straight away. I'm not mad on any of the flowery ones.

Shonajay · 01/02/2015 15:09

My dad has had two pairs of patent ones, worn them daily till the first pair fell apart after four years, but NO cracking ever.
