Foundation for 40+ woman

So today my foundation ran out. I've been using Estee Lauder Futurist for a longish time now but it's discontinued (sob) and I'm going to have to find something else. I looked at the Estee Lauder replacement for my foundation - Perfectionist - but it's too expensive for me and besides it would be good to try something else.

So, I'm after some recommendations. I don't want anything too heavy or too matte. Really just need something to slap on in the morning that makes me look semi-presentable and it would be nice if it didn't gather in my fine lines and wrinkles as the day wears on. Think my skin is normal but I guess it's probably drier now than it was 10 years ago.

Please help!

I'm 41 and posted a very similar question about a year ago, on another board. After lots of recommendations, I went with NARS Sheer Glow. I absolutely love it. Beautiful light texture but still provides coverage...it somehow just looks like my natural skin, without any of the flaws.

unless your skin is old before its time then at 40+ you can use any type of foundation really. It's not about your age it's about the type of skin you have.

I'm much older than 40 and my favourites - if you can get the right shade to match your skin..

Clinique Perfectly Real - slightly matte but very natural.
Dior Star- matte-ish but with a glow
Clarins Extra Firming
Bobbi Brown Stick foundation- very light cover
Nars Sheer Glow ( but no shades that are right for me- too yellow or too pink or too pale.

Thanks for that Koala. That's one I hadn't considered. Problem is there is too much choice!

as a previous MUA I would have a good look at these;
Dior Star (Good dupe for the Estee Lauder perfectionist)
NARS Sheer Glow
Clarins Extra Comfort
Bobbi Brown Skin (if I could only own one foundation forever, it would be this) or alternatively, Moisture Rich.

I'd also have a think about what you set with when it comes to fine lines, a good, translucent 'blurring' powder and a good primer will massively help with this, anything that promises a soft focus effect is worth a look (my personal favourites for pores, lines or wrinkles are Smashbox Hydrating or Laura Mercier Hydrating, and you can't go wrong with NARS light reflecting loose powder)

NARS are also bringing out a new foundation this month, it has good reviews thus far from the handful of bloggers who've tried it, but it promises good coverage, natural looking skin and that it feel weightless.
