Bra intervention required!

Please help!

I feel the time has come for me to sort out my underwear. I have never had a bra fitting. For most of my adult life I have been wearing a 34b bra. I have just measured according to guidelines on another thread, and my measurements are 30 back and 34 at 90 degrees on fullest part.

According to the breast shapes on Bratabase, I would say I fall into the full on the bottom category. Or fuller anyway.

After pregnancy and a year of bf, I feel I can justify buying a few nice bras. Practical, pretty and everyday, though, not spangly and transparent.

Can anyone point me in the direction of designs that are likely to be flattering, and confirm what sizes I should try?

Definitely a 30 something. Someone with lots of knowledge will be along soon I am sure. But I Understand the golden rule is to take back size as the band measurement and forget all notions of adding four or five inches as per M&S.

30d as a starting point

Which actually has the same cup volume as you current bra but on a smaller back size

If you're fuller on the bottom, half cups and balconette shapes will probably work well for you as they don't have so much material at the top to fill out.

Are your breath wide (i. e. start under your armpit) or narrow? Have you got a small or large gap between them? Would you say they're quite shallow or do they project away from your body?

Solasum · 21/01/2015 08:46

Hmm. Well, they don't start under my armpit. I guess the gap between is about an inch (surreptitious measuring at desk)

As to Shallow or projecting, not sure how to judge. They go out rather than around, so projecting?
