Here you go...

Are the self-absorbed always self-absorbed, or does it get worse as they get older? When I told my mother about my melanoma diagnosis, she said "Oh no. I don't know how I'm going to cope with this." I think when my father was alive, he sort of hid quite how bad she was.

Other news from the Schadenhaus, the kitten has pissed all over the bed (strangely only on DH's side), crapped on the hall carpet (DH trod in it) and on the bathroom floor. So it is back to the vee eee tee tomorrow for more antibiotics. DH is in his "she'll have to go" mode. But a) I cannot bear the thought of her going to a rescue place, she would be so scared and bewildered b) no-one would give her a home if she is not clean, so she would be put down and c) she is a dear, gentle little thing, and the DDs and I love her dearly. I just wish that the vet could fix what the problem is, as it keeps recurring. House smelling strongly of Ariel and Zoflora. Sad

:( MrsS - have your tried Feliway?

herbaceous · 21/01/2015 09:50

Is it some kind of psychological thing? A dirty protest? Our cat, who never shits anywhere but outside, laid a massive turd on the kitchen counter a couple of weeks ago because DP had removed his latest 'nest' - the Christmas wreath, on which he'd been sleeping for a week.

motherinferior · 21/01/2015 10:01

Our old and ill cat is pissing on the bathmat and doormats again. We even, revoltingly, moved the litter tray into the house but she just pissed next to it so it's gone out of the back door again.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/01/2015 10:06

Feliway? Oh yes. We had a plug in. After four days of a turd neatly laid next to it, we got rid of the Feliway... I think it is a urine infection rather than psychological (although she has been known to crap on the bed when we've been away overnight and left her - again on DH's side), given her need to pee on something nice and soft. Like the duvet... I can cope with the bath mat, but not this. No doubt the vet will give her antibiotics, she will be fine for a few months and then we will be bak to square one.

BTW my dad has ONLY JUST sent out an email - OK, it was 7pm last night - about my mum's op. Given I'd emailed/texted/rung everyone immediately this is a bit redundant, really. He has Form for this. TWO DAYS after my sister had her first baby he rang me up to say "Have you heard?"

bigTillyMint · 21/01/2015 10:58

Sorry about the cat woes (yet another reason not to get oneWink)

Bored doing paperworkHmm

NUFC69 · 21/01/2015 11:58

The posts about various cats is hitting home for me as DH is taking ours is the vet tomorrow as we don't think it's fair to let him carry on. Am now wishing that he hadn't come home last time. We have more or less decided not to have another one unless it can decamp to DD's when we're away.

Off to dental hospital again this afternoon - fed up with going although I know my gums are better.

I have just booked a taster session at the local sports centre - I want to get stronger: the cycling is already good for cardiovascular exercise.

Will be back later

MollyAir · 21/01/2015 13:03

I'm really looking forward to lunch on Thurs 29 Jan, and have even moved my meeting so I should be able to arrive by 1.00pm. After that, I too can be leisurely. Huzzah! Can any other crepeys being pursued by black dogs come along for the lolz? NU, I do realise it's a bit far to come for lunch.

bigTillyMint · 21/01/2015 13:24
Envy
motherinferior · 21/01/2015 13:36

Oh, NU, how sad re cat. Ours has just peed on the mat again...

Rosebag · 21/01/2015 13:36

Cremo wing mirrors these days….I don't think anyone claims for them do they?…and if the other fecker is pulling a fast one…that's awful. Poor DDad.

Stropps Happy Birthday to your DS! And I link arms with you over upcoming birthdays….but take heart…I am 4 years older than you… Smile

I also have to link arms with Tilly over secretly being pleased I no longer have animaux with incontinence and barfing habits. Well no pets at all, actually. We used to have "poo corner"…god, those were the days. It was in the dining room…of all places. A universal repository for fur balls, poos, wees, dead and dying mice and birds…you name it. I just want to have a few years respite from incontinence before I have to deal with that of aged parents or indeed my own…..

Really hope to come to Crepey lunch next week Smile even if somewhat briefly.

In other news, my Gabor boots have arrived….I am vair pleased….vair pleased indeed!!! I also have an order from Esprit sitting in it's box waiting to be opened (childish excitement) and tried on. Grin

herbaceous · 21/01/2015 13:47

QUIM.

We have had a lecture moved, to guess when - afternoon of 29th January. So, I'll only be able to join you crepeys for a flying visit.

lalsy · 21/01/2015 14:13

Dashing in to say Happy Birthday Stroppyboy Grin.

And NU, I am sorry but it sounds like you know it is the right decision.

hattymattie · 21/01/2015 15:28

We have no cats either - I don't think I could stand crap on the bed. I do love cqwts though - I can only go near moggies though. I seem to be allergic to posh fine haired breeds.

I think our parents were brought up to be stiff upper lip. I love my mother and could, before her memory started going, have great chats but not about anything important like relationships. I think our generation,on the other hand, is too soft with its children - very difficult to get the balance right.

bigTillyMint · 21/01/2015 20:24

We have another day off tomorrow, yippee! Another heating-related issue. Shame the mini-meet isn't till next Thursday... unless anyone is free tomorrow?Wink

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/01/2015 22:25

Happy Birthday Mini Stropps!

NU - sorry about the cat. Sad Mine seems (touch wood) to be better today, but off to the vet tomorrow to spend more money. Hooray. And I thought cats were supposed to be lovely clean animals...?

OP posts:
Auriga · 21/01/2015 22:31

Sorry about DCat NU Sad

bigTillyMint · 22/01/2015 09:16

NU, wishing you strength for today.

NUFC69 · 22/01/2015 09:27

Appointment is 11.50 - have totally gone to pieces. We've had him for almost 17 years and he has been a wonderful pet. All I can think of is how do people cope when they have to turn off life support for a family member.

hattymattie · 22/01/2015 09:32

Oh NU - lots of hand holding Sad Sad Sad.

motherinferior · 22/01/2015 10:13

Oh NU, hand holding from here too. Sad We will have to do the same with our oldest cat fairly soon, I suspect. It is truly grim - I know they're pets, not people, but they have been part of the household - especially with children.

House is full of people. Girls have two inset days. DP has filthy cold of the sort that totally knocks him out and gives him a temperature - he is insisting on going in 'just for a couple of meetings'. I have just spent 15 minutes clearing dead messages out of my inbox and must now think Journalistic Thoughts. Ho yes. Have made huge Green Soup (lentil and cumin and spinach) to feed the BFFs DD1 has invited to lunch.

motherinferior · 22/01/2015 10:43

Just spoke to my mum. Exhausted but coherent.

MontserratCaballe · 22/01/2015 10:53

Darling NU, sending you love and strength today Flowers

cremolafoam · 22/01/2015 11:14

NU in so sorry and sad for you. Sad
Much love.

MI - that's good news.
