Here you go...

OP posts:
Stropperella · 25/01/2015 10:33

Good luck with today, MI. And I hope the journey goes smoothly too.

herbaceous · 25/01/2015 10:48

There is much we don't talk about, MI. Or rather I bring something up and it gets ignored. Drives me demented.

Blackduck · 25/01/2015 11:16

MI good luck today.

Herbs that must be hard. Being ignored is not nice.

Here we are in homework meltdown sigh

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/01/2015 11:46

BD - he was very upset, not least because he loves driving and I am a crap driver!

OP posts:
Rosebag · 25/01/2015 11:51

MI thinking of you today. You're right about acceptance. I just thought I'd try it, after getting unremarkable results from ranting and raving. Hmm

Links arms with BD....also in homework meltdown. I have realised that it's generally me melting down.... Hmm

At the risk of grossly generalising, I find that the male of the species tends to ignore things to which he cannot see an immediate solution. ie I don't know what to do about this or I don't want this ...so it doesn't exist. Lucky us. Grin

bigTillyMint · 25/01/2015 13:28

MI, Good LuckFlowers

Gosh, that is a major responsibility for a young nanny, beachy - good on her!

Herbs, NDN has the same problem with her DP. DH does all the driving when we are all in the car. Mostly.

Rose, so true!

Ceilidh last night was FAB! Brilliant live music (young hipstersWink) one of whom was doing the calling and was so good at it, particularly as most people had never done it before and were rather the worse for wear towards the end of the evening I nearly wet myself laughingSmile And there was a proper piper and older very distinguished looking man clad in very Scottish 3 piece suit doing the poem and another attacking the haggis. And some young men in kilts! All goodSmile

Just been for a coffee and catch up with a friend I haven't seen for a while and the house is all mine for at least half an hour!

bigTillyMint · 25/01/2015 13:29

Stropps, LOVE that article!

lalsy · 25/01/2015 13:51

Good for Mariella. Pitch perfect. Thanks Stropps.

MI, I really hope it all goes smoothly today.

There is a little bit of stuff my family doesn't talk about and perhaps it is the right decision as honesty could destroy some fragile but important relationships.

dh's family, OTOH, talk about almost nothing and have secrets over stuff that, while sort of private, isn't secret and no-one else would be that bothered anyway. It makes them all dull company I think as no-one talks truthfully about the meat and gristle of their lives with any sort of reflective or analytic oomph, and makes crises (there is one at the moment) even more stressful. Unlike you my dear crepey friends - I thought this thread was a joy over Christmas with its intelligent squaring up to the realities of family life.

hattymattie · 25/01/2015 15:15

Rose - you summed up my DH so perfectly. Had lovely dinner party last night - prawn starter was lovely thanks ladies.

Am now slumped on the sofa with DS and DH watching Godzilla of all things.

Rosebag · 25/01/2015 15:16

Tilly when the DC were younger, we went north of the border every year for holidays. I love a Ceilidh. I can't keep up with the serious Scottish dancers but I do a mean Dashing White Sergeant, and I did learn how to do an Eightsome Reel once…oh and I love a good Gay Gordons. Grin Grin There's no caller, so you just have to pick up the steps as you go along. DH is useless so I always danced with my DSs.

In a related matter…now getting ready to go to a PTA Bollywood night Hmm Blush

Rosebag · 25/01/2015 15:17

Lalsy My DHs family is exactly that.

And mine Hatty Angry

bigTillyMint · 25/01/2015 15:47

LOL, I think half of us are married to the same manGrin

Oh yes, the DWS was one of the dances. Couldn't tell you how it went now! Was it the one where you twirl round a lot?

Bollywood night sounds fun. But on a Sunday?!

Blackduck · 25/01/2015 16:06

Oh Gay Gordon's - takes me right back to primary!

We are on first date tonight - yes I know Sunday - bad timing!!

bigTillyMint · 25/01/2015 16:10

Rosebag · 25/01/2015 17:13

motherinferior · 25/01/2015 18:34

Has anyone heard from Rudy? I am faintly concerned.

Chugging slowly back. Long saga of trains not quite caught. Visit grim not least because ward sister denies all knowledge of social care assessments. All v long drawn out and I want to climb under the bed and hide.

QueenQueenie · 25/01/2015 18:38

Well done on surviving it all MI. That's no mean feat in itself.
Rudy has definitely been missing in action for a while hasn't she?
Does someone have a number for her to txt her on perhaps? (I don't).
Hope she's OK. She may well be caught up like you in caring / worrying about her Mum...

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/01/2015 19:07

Rudy is quite active on FB.

Your day sounds grim, MI. Can I recommend Wine

OP posts:
Blackduck · 25/01/2015 19:11

MrsS is right - Rudy on FB - busy with work I think and birthdays!

Off to Julian Cope (tell DH MrsS)

MI well done on surviving today.

lalsy · 25/01/2015 19:18

Wine and sofa MI. Am Shock at ward sister - that is appalling. Talk about unjoined-up care.

bigTillyMint · 25/01/2015 19:38

Rudy is probably still celebrating her teams success on SaturdayWink

Sorry you had a grim day MI.

Feeling full after a Sunday evening curry buffet.

Rosebag · 25/01/2015 19:38

Hope rudy is ok.
I am quite amazingly enjoying dancing Bollywood .... My friends, all mere spring chickens, have long flaked out Grin

herbaceous · 25/01/2015 19:52
