Best socks?

I LOVE buying socks, I dunno why, I just do! I've not yet found a brand that is soft, comfy and washes well in trendy/funky patterns.

I also don't want to spend too much.

Any recs greatly received.

I LOVE a good sock! Recent best buy was in Boots - fair isle or whatever that woolly brand is. Not that they're horrid scratchy wool - are nice soft cotton with a funky pattern although not too garish for everyday wear. My other current faves are last season's fat face. I'm not usually a fan but these socks are thick, soft, stripey and bright - basically everything my feels desire!

Dafspunk · 15/01/2015 21:02

feets desire

Avoca socks might fit the bill. Soft, comfy, wash well, funky and interesting patterns. Approx £10 + a pair.

Happy Socks; not cheap but often in TKMaxx and in Surfdome.

BikeRunSki · 15/01/2015 21:29

I am slightly obsessed with warm socks (work outside a lot). My favourites are Smartwool Crew Socks. For toasty feet in ordinary shoes, I love the Goat socks - really warm yet thin.

NormHonal · 15/01/2015 21:31

I love the Boden socks but they don't last - get holes in very quickly.

I want to get the Seasalt ones, anyone tried those?

RJnomore · 15/01/2015 21:32

My husband is a bit of a sock fan...
Second happy socks, he also likes marko johns, I don't know if they do women's as well.

iwantgin · 15/01/2015 21:32

I like BAM socks. Very comfy. Don't smell.

LesleyKnopeFan · 15/01/2015 21:37

Some great suggestions. I have Seasalt, nice but no better than Accessorise, M&S etc.....

I've bought nice ones in fat face before. They came in a two pack. Warm and comfy, but not thick, and stretchy.

stripytees · 15/01/2015 21:41

I love Seasalt socks. The bamboo makes them really soft and they wash and wear really well.

dexter73 · 15/01/2015 21:55

I like the Uniqlo heattech socks as they keep my feet really warm.

amigababy · 15/01/2015 22:05

If you visit House of Fraser website they have a sale on, I got about 12 pairs for £37 - a mix of very heavily discounted Falke ones (thin, more for summer) and Gift sets of Calvin Klein ones that are lovely.

For Xmas dd got me some Burlington ones, not sure where from, about £10 a pair

ShirleySharpeyes · 15/01/2015 22:17

The best pairs of socks I have are from Finisterre, they are genuinely well made, fit well and very warm, mine are a couple of years old and wearing very well.

ShirleySharpeyes · 15/01/2015 22:23

At risk of being a sock bore - I also have the Boden ones (bought with a voucher), I love the colours but wouldn't bother again cos they aren't all that. The Falke wool ones I have I'm not that impressed with (they've gone a bit baggy). I also have a few bamboo pairs from braintree clothing, which are lovely and very comfy.

RJnomore · 15/01/2015 23:04

Ooh yeah, DH buys burlingtons as well.

RosyAuroch · 16/01/2015 13:31

Bamboo clothing socks. They are really springy and come in lots of stripey colour combinations, as well as more boring and serviceable options. Really ridiculously comfy, add spring to your step here

magicmonkeysfortea · 16/01/2015 19:47

Braintree bamboo socks are really good.

Nocturne123 · 16/01/2015 19:56

Elle socks are great. I always get them in tk maxx and they wash really well .

Got some toddler ones for dd there too
