Tinting Eyebrows...

I always have my lashes and brows tinted as am very fair, and am always very happy with the result. However, the brow tint Never lasts longer than a week, 10 days tops. Has anyone else had this or done it themselves and found a way to get it to last longer ?!

I had this, which is why I switched to doing it myself. Once you get used to it, it takes literally minutes and is soooo much cheaper! You can just whack it on, wait a few minutes, wipe off and it's all done! Much easier than salon visits.

Sorry, meant to add no, it doesn't last longer, but because you're doing it yourself at home you can top up regularly very easily

It lasts about 3 weeks on me. Do you use cleanser and/or scrub on your brows a lot? This removes the tint. Try avoiding the brow area when cleansing and just rinse with water.
Also if you swim frequently the chlorine will strip the dye. Try coating brows in Vaseline before swimming to protect them.

Don't tint lashes at home btw! Very risky. Always get it done at the salon.

I would like to try tinting but im happy to fill them in with a brow pencil.

I switched to tinting eyelashes and brows at home about 2 years ago. I find they last about 3 weeks as the other poster said and have only spent about £15 buying the dye and solution from Amazon.

The bonus is I can choose when I do it and don't have to leave my house. I used to find that the odd occasion when seeing my brows in daylight that the beautician hadn't darkened them enough, whereas I can choose how dark they are.

I did mine myself at home and it barely looked any different and lasted about a day.

I do mine. I've for Eyelash dark brown (about £7) & another one (black) which was mega cheap at Home Bargains.

The first you mix 2 solutions, apply & wait 2 mins.

The 2nd you apply liquid to eybrows, then, after 1 min, apply a gel & then wipe off.

I prefer the latter because it's because it's quicker but have to be careful to only put on brows as it also dyes skin.

Both last a couple of weeks.

I went on a beauty course about 2yrs ago to do this myself.
Make sure you have a decent brand tint & the proper tools, especially if you're going anywhere near your eyes.
Apply vaseline around the eyebrow to prevent any skin dye & you can get an eyeguard to protect the skin around your eyes when doing lashes.
Have a look in the capital hair & beauty site (not sure if you need a trade card to buy from them though).

Tinting your eyebrows is as easy as brushing your teeth. I use this one

You mix it up some of the dye with some of the liquid solution (as per the instructions), leave it on your brows for 1 min. Wash off. Check it half an hour later and if it isn't as dark as you want repeat.

Foolproof.

I don't bother with vaseline and have never dyed the skin around my eyebrow.

I used to use that stuff Squoosh linked to. It’s about £8 and you get a few uses out of it, which when you consider that you pay about £12 for a tint is brilliant value. Honestly, it’s really, really straightforward. I used it for about four years (often leaving it on for sliiiightly longer than advised) and never looked like Groucho Marx after taking the tint off. Well, nothing that didn’t wash off the next morning with a bit of face scrub anyway.

I eventually admitted defeat and got my eyebrows tattooed on which was literally my best beauty decision ever.

It depends what brand you're using squoosh.
With the salon select brand the darker colours will stain the skin unless you've applied something to act as a barrier.
If you don't need to with the brand you're using then that's great.

They say two years, but I think if you didn't touch them for that length of time they'd disappear completely; the ink doesn't penetrate into the skin as deep as on a normal tattoo. I have mine topped up about every six months.

Any chance of a picture TheCraicDealer? I have translucent eyebrow hair that possesses no colour or will go white if exposed to prolonged sunshine but my hair on my head is dark blonde. I have been colouring in my eyebrows since I was 15. As the hair sits so close to the skin I am worried that I'd just be dying skin on my face if I used a home kit but am wondering about tattooing but don't want to look like an idiot especially as most people don't know I colour my brows in (I am THAT good...after 22 years practise)...

I'm exactly the same, my natural hair colour is a light brown but I have very fine, blonde and spare eyebrows think God decided to knock off early that day.

Here is a picture- I'm not wearing any make up in this one, I usually go over them a bit with some Browzings to add a bit more definition, but it's nowhere near as laboureous as drawing on two full eyebrows every single morning! It was pricey but worth it imho.

No, of course not- they were £300 (eeeeek) to get done initially, but each top up is "only" £30. It was a fantastic woman in Belfast which is unlikely to help you, but I got the recommendation off my hairdresser. Eyebrow lady helps women with alopecia and those going through chemo, so she has a bit of a different client base to the salons catering to Scouse brow fans- that's defo something to consider if you go down the tattoo route.

It is a lot of money, but when you spend your days hoping your make-up is intact on hot days, dread seeing yourself in the mirror after a shower and having to draw them on every bloody morning....I'd pay twice that again to be honest!

£300 is eek but that's a really good point especially about Scouse Brow I'd forgotten about that. Really good advice to find someone who has a wider portfolio like you mentioned. I had a funny feeling you might be over the water from your name but hoped that maybe you worked in England! And you're right I have no reason to go other than randomly drop in on DH's auntie!

My confidence is raised having seen yours and your advice and I might go for it!!
