Big knickers. I mean BIG!

Tzibeleh · 10/01/2015 12:27

I need some big knickers to avoid VPL across my wobbly empty-handbag belly when wearing jersey dresses.

I've been wearing M&S knickers for ever, but don't like their big knickers, as the waist isn't high enough. I'm long in the body, but not sure whether that's over all, or just in the lower half.

Where can I get big BIG knickers? They don't necessarily need to be control knicks.

Sloggi?
I can't vouch that they're good, but they look good and I keep meaning to get myself some.

lurkerspeaks · 10/01/2015 13:32

Sloggi.

I got a very cheap deal on some from Daxon (old lady catalogue shop) recently. I'm now getting some very interesting junk mail!

Swimmingwithsharks · 10/01/2015 13:32

Buy a full slip (with adjustable straps so you can lower the neckline so it doesn't show). Then your dress will skim over all the lumpy bits and hang beautifully.

Tzibeleh · 10/01/2015 13:49

Even with a full slip the waistband shows.

I'll try Slogi (and the old lady website Wink) thanks.

Shock £25 for 3 pairs of knickers!

Are they actually worth it? Are they really so much better than M&S 5-for-£7?

I got mine from Sainsbury's and they are big enough to avoid the problem you have - I don't think i'm particularly long in the body though.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 10/01/2015 14:54

I was going to say sainsburys as well. They aren't great as they do fall apart in the wash much more quickly than the m&s ones, but the five pack of full briefs come up much higher than my waist and much higher than my m&s full briefs.

christmaspies · 10/01/2015 15:02

Why don't you google. I usually find what I want when I do that

lurkerspeaks · 10/01/2015 15:13

They last well. I haven't bought knickers for about 2 years....

I stopped buying M&S as I could never get a style I liked and the cheap ones really didn't wash well.

hugoagogo · 10/01/2015 16:05

Tesco do some stretchy seamfree short type knickers which are brilliant, they come up really high, don't roll and no vpl shorts
The picture is a bit misleading, I find they come right up to my belly button.Wink

TheFairyCaravan · 10/01/2015 16:13

That's polite Christmaspies, let's all do that then they can get rid of half the topics on here! Hmm

BikeRunSki · 10/01/2015 16:17

I think Sloggi are worth it, and they last forever.

christmaspies · 10/01/2015 16:24

Sorry I didn't mean to cause offence Blush

capsium · 10/01/2015 16:29

Buy a size bigger in the M & S. When I did this the waist came up higher but they weren't far to big IYSWIM.

goodasitgets · 10/01/2015 16:34

Maidenform do high waist ones, often in TK maxx cheaper Smile

MaryWestmacott · 10/01/2015 16:47

sainsburys, ideally the light control ones to do smoothing without being uncomfy. They don't last forever, but are cheap so if you have to buy again, it's not a problem.

PiratePanda · 10/01/2015 17:22

John Lewis in a generous size works for me. Or Spanx :)

CatsClaus · 10/01/2015 17:27

those tesco shorts can be great....I buy them but they do vary in the way they stretch.

Some are right up to the belly button and others in the same size are like on the model.

They do not roll though and are very comfortable

HarrietSchulenberg · 10/01/2015 17:46

I avcidentally bought some enormous pants from Sainsburys a few weeks back. Wore them anyway and they are amazing. Pack of 5, dark purple plain and patterned and cream.
Soooo comfy.

OOAOML · 10/01/2015 18:39

John Lewis.

MrsMeow · 10/01/2015 18:42

I bought the Sainsburys ones by mistake and they are seriously HUGE, proper apple catchers! They're really comfy though, especially for work but I'd avoid wearing them with jeans as they come up much higher than the waistband.

Tzibeleh · 10/01/2015 20:01

Because, Christmaspies, Google won't tell me which knicks are actually high enough, wear well, etc.

Sainsbos seem worth trying.

Spanx are awesome, but there's no way I'm wearing them for everyday work-wear!

OP posts:
Tzibeleh · 14/01/2015 20:05

Sainsbos better than M&S, but still don't come high enough.

Local Tesco doesn't do clothes.

The search continues.

Sloggi are great, but no longer in body than M & S, possibly even slightly shorter.

VenusRising · 16/01/2015 01:11

I got some lovely stretchy shorts in aldi. High waisted to cover post cesarean tum and they have nice loose legs so no vpl. Very cheap.

I thought christmas pies comment was funny! [nerd]
