I would like to buy one of these two coats, do you have either, which would you choose? Thanks.

Angelina

Whitney

Wouldn't really buy either but the angelina if I had to

babybelleuk · 09/01/2015 20:34

Thanks Nerf, any suggestions?

I'm looking for something wind and waterproof, plus breathable and warm. I've had a Berghaus jacket for years but looking for something more girly. Needs to suit the school run, long winter walks with small children and will be worn with wellies.

It's really hard isn't it? I have to go to work after so am limited to crombie type coats and big scarves. Let me think, I've seen a gorgeous one recently.

This is what I was thinking of

Andthenshesmiles · 09/01/2015 20:57

I have tried on the Angelina and really liked it.
Bought a Taylor in the end (old stock and cheaper) but very similar. Love it, waterproof and very warm.

If you're looking for parka style, I have one of the Penfield Hoosacs in bright blue...warm waterproof and cosy without being too bulky. I like the red :)

Nerf, I like the fur! Smile

Andthenshesmiles, great feedback thanks Smile. Do you need a jumper underneath? If so, how is it for size? Your usual size or a size up? Also, how tall are you? I'm only 5ft3!

babybelleuk · 09/01/2015 21:09

Nooyearnooname, nice coat, but I fear a little to stylish for me and our winter walks! Smile

You don't need a jumper underneath really at all. I wear heattech (uniqlo) and (too) warm by the end of school run.
Size wise I am 14-16 - bought 42 after trying 40 and 42 on, both ok but bigger slight better over my wider hips!. I'm 5ft8. Think Blacks have Angelina in stock to try.

babybelleuk · 09/01/2015 22:31

Andthenshesmiles, I'm now looking at the Taylor! Smile. Not essential, but does it have a napolean pocket? Outside the zip, but under the flap?

OP posts:
babybelleuk · 09/01/2015 22:32

It's sooo hard to choose! Confused

Ladies, I'm 5ft3 and a size 14/16, can anyone recommend what size to order?

I like the Didriksons Mary. It looks so much better on than in the picture, and is nice and long.

I have the Angelina and wear it on dog walks, to multiple sports matches. Many people comment on it favourably. It's very warm and 100% waterproof. I sized down and can still wear a jumper underneath, although rarely need to.

MsBojangles · 10/01/2015 12:33

I like the look of the Angelia a lot, looks a bit trendier and less obviously 'performance'.

wickedfairy · 10/01/2015 14:54

I have the Angelina and loved it, so cosy and warm and long arms that fit me. I'm 5'8 and 12-14 - I got the 40 and it fits beautifully.

babybelleuk · 10/01/2015 15:21

Thanks ladies, it's just dawned on me that after my third baby, that maybe I am actually a size or two bigger than I thought! Now trying to decide whether to make do and wait till next year, when hopefully I will have lost some baby weight!

I've looked long and hard at Didriksons Grin

I tried on an Angelina and it was lovely, but I dislike the strings at the back of most parkas. Looks like a weird tail to me .

So I would get the Whitney if any, though I like the Karen too. Probably going to make do for this year after all the comparisons Wink

Deux · 10/01/2015 16:18

I bought a navy blue Taylor last year and it's fabulous.

I'm 5'4", 9 and a half stone and a size 10. I have the 38 and it's a good fit. It is quite slim on the hips.

babybelleuk · 10/01/2015 16:27

Looking at the pictures, the Angelina & Whitney look a bit wider in the hips.

OP posts:
babybelleuk · 10/01/2015 16:29

I know what you mean by the strings, although I like the idea of being able to sit down without getting a cold/wet bottom!

OP posts:
Darkchocsprinkles · 10/01/2015 16:39

I think they are all pretty much cut lower at the back, OP - so no wet bottom and no tail either Grin

Darkchocsprinkles · 10/01/2015 16:43

Viking Kids have some good prices and some of last year's stock too. Yes, I am shopping vicariously through you, OP Wink

Deux · 10/01/2015 20:28

I wouldn't like the strings hanging down either. They don't on the Taylor.

I must say, the Taylor (and I'm guessing all the Didriksons coats?) are amazingly adjustable. The toggle at the back of the hood is great - the hood stays up in a fierce gale in the far north of Scotland.

I've had so much wear out of it - everyday last winter and now this winter. Another thing, I never feel too hot in it and it's easy to get in/out of the car and to ventilate with the zip.

If anyone else reading has a Taylor, did you have to re-waterproof it? I only washed mine at the end of the season, as per instructions. I think on their website I read that you should iron on low to maintain the waterproofing. Anyone else? It's still waterproof btw.
