I would like a soft leather bag, mid size with a long strap if possible for hands free wear.

I like muted colours, beige, grey, blues and dark red.

Not structured but not floppy if you know what I mean. I usually like Radley, Karen Millen and LK Bennet, to name a few. I may be looking at sale items due to £150 budget.

I'd like a treat for my upcoming 40th, any ideas?

Sounds as though you have the same taste in bags as me Grin Peony & Moore are great quality for that kind of budget, and have you looked at Mint Velvet for greys/beige leather?

originalusernamefail · 08/01/2015 20:44

I like my fossil leather bag and they have a few things within your budget in lots of colours?

OK, here I go again…www.nvlondoncalcutta.com

There are some lovely things at Oushka - non-sale stuff a bit over your budget, but seems to be plenty left in the sale. Their leather is lovely and soft and the colours are what you're after.

LondonRocks · 08/01/2015 23:52

Same taste as me, too Smile

Coccinelle?

Norfolkandchance1234 · 08/01/2015 23:58

I bought the perfect soft leather bag with a long strap from TK Maxx after a long time looking. It's black though as I only like black bags for work.

waceystills · 09/01/2015 07:12

Thank you Smile

I love lots of the suggestions.

The fossil Sydney Satchel in Mushroom had caught my eye. I may pop into John Lewis and have a little look later.

The Oushka Maggie in Burgandy is lovely too.

I like Fossil too. They often have shops at the outlet centres so if you can get to one of those, it might be worth a look?

Dancergirl · 09/01/2015 14:51

Oushka have lovely bags, damn you zinnia Grin

Do I really NEED another bag? I like the Isla

pinkfrocks · 09/01/2015 14:57

I have the Fossil Sydney and like it BUT it doesn't really have any dividers/ pockets inside except 1 zipped pocket and I am forever fumbling and cursing over never being able to find stuff. But maybe I pack too much in. I do like the grab handle and shoulder strap options, and it's light. I have liked the look of Oushka too but don't like sending for stuff from shops that have no retail outlet and rely solely on mail order- not sure why but always a bit wary of them. At least with Fossil and other brands you can see them in store then order online.

Another vote for Peony & Moore.. lush handbags. I also like coach but maybe too ££..

Dancergirl · 09/01/2015 15:54

I've been tempted by a Peony and Moore handbag after seeing all the recommendations on here. Which one do you have mrsdimmock?

Doobigetta · 09/01/2015 19:13

I just bought a Radley Grosvenor in the sale for £160 and I'm really pleased with it. Gorgeous, very slightly textured but still very soft leather, not completely structured but smart enough for work. And none of the naff multicoloured/spotty type trim Radley can go OTT with. I was a bit unsure about the main compartment not having a zip, but the magnetic close on the flap is fine.

zinnia · 09/01/2015 23:04

Sorry dancergirl! Am on a spending ban atm so having to do all my shopping vicariously...
If it makes you feel any better (probably won't, admittedly), am lusting after the Mila myself.

mrsdimmock · 10/01/2015 14:41

I've got this one Dancergirl.. Mariella in blue. Its lovely, gets lots of compliments..

There's a great brand out called George Isaacs Satchels and they do a few different styles. Bags are made to order and 20%of every order goes to Cancer Research as unfortunately the lady who owns it has cancer. I have a barrel bag and a satchel bag and they're gorgeous Smile

minibmw2010 · 10/01/2015 20:45

PS: they are quite basic In that there are no inside pockets etc but they are beautifully made.

Dancergirl · 10/01/2015 23:06

Looks lovely mrsdimmock just not sure if it's too big for me. Shame the website doesnt show what the bag looks like on. I like the Georgia too, think it's a bit smaller.

0pheliaBalls · 11/01/2015 11:13

I've just bought this from John Lewis and it's absolutely beautiful. Really well made and classic - I especially love that the buckle is a real one and the lovely unlined interior. It comes in black too. One thing, the last picture shows the model holding the smaller sized one - it's actually much bigger and very capacious. Though maybe the smaller size would be better for you anyway? It's still quite roomy.

Mrsmost · 11/01/2015 12:59

Ohh marking my place GrinGrin in need of a new bag

webjunkie · 11/01/2015 13:03

Modalu Pippa bag. I have three now!

Dancergirl · 12/01/2015 00:00

Do Peony and Moore have any stockists anywhere or is it online only? It's so difficult to get a sense of the size of a bag until you try it.

mrsdimmock · 12/01/2015 08:37

dancergirl only in Bath from the look of the website, i'm no where near, but it does have free returns. Mine is on the large side, it will fit all DD stuff in on days out & a laptop when I need it to for work.

Its not a small bag. Im 5'9 & it fits perfectly, but if you're short I would suspect it might be too big. The other one you talked about, the Georgia is smaller I think from memory - I debated alot before purchase!
