I have horrid dry, flaky yet also spotty skin go me

Can anyone tell me if the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream if worth a try? I also have quite sensitive skin.

I've just purchased some anyway but would be good to hear about it Grin

It is very good, but I've had just as good a result on my dry skin using Lanisoh cream which is a lot cheaper!

Yes its amazing stuff i bought a set in the sale at debs , It worked out nearly as cheap as buying a single tube.

Your skin sounds similar to mine. I find it brilliant for moisturising/protecting dry patches without using a rich all over moisturiser. I also love it as a face mask for 10 mins in the bath, the take off gently with a hot flannel.

Doobigetta · 06/01/2015 20:31

It certainly works wonders on (mild) sunburn. Completely takes the redness down.

I have used 8 Hour cream for 10 years for my lips, nothing else works in winter. I don't have any at the moment, and I am in such pain!

But to me it doesn't sound like 8 hour cream would do much good for your face, it's not really a face cream, it's fair too oily and waxy, it's more of an ointment or salve.

Have you tried the oil cleansing method? I have spotty skin that can get dry, and it does wonders for me. Also you could try using bicarb as a gentle exfoliator. I use bicarb in a "hand bath" as my hands get so dry and sore, and it works wonders. I am thinking it might calm your skin down a bit. Many people use it in the bath for kids with chicken pox.

I discovered it on Mumsnet, Vulva, read here: www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/

I use 8 hour cream on my face. It's a very good primer.

Lansinoh wouldn't spread as well I'd have thought? Lansinoh is brilliant for chapped lips though - better than 8 hour cream IMO.

Ohmygrood · 07/01/2015 09:36

Sudocrem is also good for the face - have you tried that on the flaky bits op? My teen ds uses it on his spots and it really helps.

Lilymaid · 07/01/2015 09:45

If you buy 8 hour cream only buy it when there is a special offer on. I bought a gift pack consisting of cream, hand lotion, lip salve and large body cream for under £25 recently.

UncrushedParsley · 07/01/2015 09:48

I bought it on Amazon. Got the unscented version. Much cheaper than Boots, etc. I find it too rich for everyday use, but for skin rashes, chapped skin, cuticles etc it's great.

VulvaVoom · 09/01/2015 12:47

Is it supposed to smell so strong?! It came today and I'm surprised by the pong Confused

I have never used it on my face but if my hands get chapped and sore, I put it on in bed with cotton gloves over, as its very greasy, it heals them very quickly. I don't use it very regularly just when I have sore chapped skin.

It does smell quite strong, more of an ointment smell than a moisturising cream and I do use it more like an ointment than a general cream.

I wouldn't be without it.

UncrushedParsley · 09/01/2015 21:49

It smells quite strong. That's why I have the unscented.

efeslight · 09/01/2015 22:16

I am another big fan, use it on scars, cold sores, chapped broken skin etc...I have many skin problems and and always have a tube or two on the go. Its great on nappy rash too.

I have a similar skin to you and I've discovered the L'oreal extraordinary facial oil. It's amazing - £13 at Superdrug and lasts for months x
