Growing out eyebrows

Apologies if this has been done before but I'm thinking of growing out my eyebrows to try to achieve the lovely thick natural look that seems to be all the rage at the moment. Any advice on how to make it more bearable? I've been plucking and threading for years now and the slightest whiff of a stray hair sends me running for the tweezers. I did hear about a thickening cream but it cost ££££

Had two bad threading sessions one after the other so had to grow mine out. Took a couple of months and even then they were quite patchy. Then paid to get a decent job done so they're no longer awful. This month I'm going to get them tinted so that the baby hairs that are starting to come through in the worst places look thicker and my eyebrows'll look more solid, if that makes sense. Any decent places near you that you could ask for advice from?

I had the same experience with threading. Mine were very sparse. I went to a HD brows consultant & she had a good look but didn't do anything & didn't charge. She told me to leave well alone for 6-8 weeks then go back. It was so hard not to pluck the stray hairs & I was paranoid that I looked odd.

But I went back & she tinted plucked & threaded them & they were better, but it does take months. I've had them done again once since & they are starting to take shape. The creams & stuff you can buy are a rip off, you just need to massage with a normal moisturiser to promote growth.

im trying to do the same, im ok just now but i know by this time next week i will be twitching with the tweezers

The threading sessions seem to have made mine thinner and thinner every time so I'm going cold turkey and leaving them for at least two months to see what they look like. If I'm feeling brave I'll post a pic and let you all see how I get on

You could try massaging with castor oil too. I think it has helped my brows to grow back well.

I've been growing mine for a couple of months - it is agony not reaching for the tweezers but they are looking soooo much better.

Invest in a good pencil, you'll need it to fill in any gaps and to even up your brows.

I bought a cheap clear mascara to groom my brows, I've used wax in the past and prefer a good strong clear wax to the one in my browzings kit.

Tweeze only the hairs which are clearly out of place!!

I spoke to a Benefit Consultant and she recommended their bo-oing concealer to cover up any wayward hairs.

I'm growing mine out too, and using the time I would normally spend peering at my eyebrows to pluck them to study how many new ones have grown!
It's so hard not to keep plucking but I agree with Paperblank, fill them in with a good brow pencil, I'm also using one of the plastic stencils I saw recommended on here to get a good shape & some inspiration to keep me away from the tweezers!

I ended up growing out mine accidentally after DD2 was born - it's taken 18 months of only plucking occasionally to tidy them up but they are better. I have found the Pregnacare new mum formula great for the hair on my head so maybe that's helping too.

I had great brows pre DS2 but they seem to have fallen out and gotten quite sparse after I stopped bfing.

Yes what brow stencils are you using best ? I am hopeless at all things grooming and could really do with all the help I can get. Also can anyone recommend a good brow pencil? I have light brown hair and eyebrows are maybe a bit lighter.

Oh nightstars that's really disappointing after growing them out for so long. Was there no improvement at all?

I did the same thing last year, I saw a HD brow consultant and she suggested exfoliating my eyes 2/3 times a week. It did seem to help actually. I also tried rapid brow which did nothing at all.

I'm going to massage for all I'm worth for the next 2 months although I don't remember ever having particularly thick eyebrows even as a child so perhaps it doesn't bode well for me!

It's best to use a grey/ ash brown powder in the brows than a pencil I find.
Load the brush once, shake most of it off/ on the back of your hand, and start in the middle of your brows, going out to the edge, in light feathery strokes, then and only then use the brush through your brows near your nose. Only pick up powder once, and take most of it off before you use it.
Better to build up slowly than have tadpole brows.

Using the stencils make you look deranged, and will draw attention to them: it's better if you use your own brow shape, and accentuate the beauty you have already with a little powder.

Lisa Elridge (YouTube) is very good on brows, and she has a little gap in her brows, so she does know about making them look thicker, but subtlety, so the accentuate your face, not dominate it (and not in a good way).

Nightstars don't give up it took me 20 months and I can see they are still growing back

Hi there sorry I can't link but they have them in Superdrug, Boots ,Amazon etc! They've brilliant! Clear plastic & seem to be 4 different shapes in a packet. Place it over your eyebrow & lightly pencil in the shape, flip it over for the other eye! Fantastic!

VenusRising just saw your post, I do fill them in v lightly using the stencils but they give me a guide for getting my eyebrows to match, especially at each side of my nose! I then use a brush & powder to fill lightly in the gaps! I don't just draw round the stencils with a black brow pencil!

Thanks for the tips everyone I've managed to stay away from the tweezers so far! I'm just trying not to look in the mirror too much so that I can't see them

My eyebrows were v thin and I never shaped them, they just didn't grow but I've been using Rapid Brow on them religiously for the last 2-3 months and they're def thicker. It's about £35 from Boots or Superdrug but has really helped. Also Vaseline is supposed to help.
