It's a bit like paint primer imo. Fills in the holes a bit and provides a good surface for lasting foundation.

butterfliesinmytummy · 02/01/2015 17:50

Makes foundation look fresh for hours. I love the benefit stay flawless 15 hour primer, it's really amazing.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 02/01/2015 17:52

WRT brand it's a good idea to try a few I think. I've currently settled on Lanacane as a primer alternative - it's supposed to have the same ingredients as Smashbox.

Pore Pofessional, No 7 Airbrush and Mac Prep and Prime are good options too.

tethersend · 02/01/2015 17:53

Try translucent loose powder under foundation. Better than any primer I've tried.

I got some smashbox for Christmas and it's really good- smooths the face and makes your foundation last and last.

Petal02 · 02/01/2015 17:57

Another vote for Boots No 7 airbrush primer.

BeeRayKay · 02/01/2015 18:08

Another vote for primetime by bareMinerals. NOT THE OIL CONTROL ONE THOUGH!

Have tried most primers, smashbox is ok, estee lauder is quite good, max factor is awful, bareMinerals is fab, rimmel is awful.

Do you use the bare minerals primer under mineral foundation or liquid foundation too?

arlagirl · 03/01/2015 09:52

I like Laura Mercier

MorrisZapp · 03/01/2015 09:56

Body Shop Vitamin C one is gorgeous. I don't actually wear foundation but I still love the effect ofthis stuff. Sali Hughes currently all over Dior Glow Maximiser, but it's v pricy so I'd want to test it first.

Steben · 03/01/2015 09:56

The Dior glow maximiser is amazing stuff, I mix it with my foundation. I find it not as heavy as a primer, I have used the benefit pore one And the prime time one by bare minerals And didn't rate either

olaflikeswarmhugs · 03/01/2015 10:09

You need bare minerals prime time in your life .

MorrisZapp · 03/01/2015 10:29

The Body Shop one is called Vitamin C Skin Reviver, check out the reviews, it's extremely popular.

wineoclockthanks · 03/01/2015 11:47

Thank you everyone. Off to the shops later so will investigate as many as possible!

shop you can wear it under either. I use it under mineral powder, my beauty therapist uses it under liquid

TheMD · 04/01/2015 12:06

Smashbox specialise in primers and their Photo Finish one is brilliant. Affordable too.

roundtable · 04/01/2015 12:15

I use Smashbox photo finish and I love it.

I use the bronze coloured one, which i think is called luminous, as I use a matt foundation and it gives a lovely glow.

roundtable · 04/01/2015 12:18

I just got another one during the week, it cost £25 but I've had it most of the year. It is so thick and creamy, you really don't need much.

shelfontheelf · 04/01/2015 12:20

Try the Lanacane anti-chafe gel, it's brilliant as a primer an way cheaper. A tube lasts forever!

Purplerunner · 04/01/2015 12:26

I'm obviously in the minority here as I hate the Bare Minerals one, Prime Time!

Don't actually use one myself as already have 2 layers under my make up (Dermalex for rosacea and Garnier BB cream for sensitive skin). Make up lasts all day without a problem.
