Can anyone recommend a good primer that's suitable for oily skin please?

Thank you

I've been surprised at how good the MUA primer from SuperDrug is

Forcesmum · 26/12/2014 18:23

I use the Rimmel one that's in a small white/purple tube. It's really good.

Was so disappointed with benefits porefessionals Hmm face was an oil slick a few hours later

I have combination/oily skin and use Becca mattifying primer. My skin stays matte all day...

QuinnFabray · 26/12/2014 18:31

MAC SPF 50 prep and prime is good, with the added bonus of sunscreen too. I liked the feeling of the Rimmel one and the way it performed with regards oily skin, but it broke me out. I hated the Becca one for the way it felt on my skin, but I hate silicone primers. The MAC and the Rimmel one are more lotiony.

My main issue is that my current primer seems to be breaking me out - Im using bareminerals prime time and I think it's the silicone in it...
Thank you

Watching with interest as I've not found a primer that doesn't cause me to break out. None of the primers and foundations I've used have stayed put for longer than 15-20mins, so I rarely wear make up. I wear it probably once every 2-3yrs.

twobambinos · 26/12/2014 19:30

I use smashbox oilfree. Also went to a beauty course and was told you should put moisturiser and primer on and then wait ten mins before putting on foundation it needs time to sink in. U can do eye make up while u wait.

LoathsomeDrab · 26/12/2014 19:30

I've got dreadfully oily skin and so far the only primer I've found that stays put for a reasonable amount of time is this one from the Body Shop.

Happypogostick · 26/12/2014 19:37

Number 7 do a great one

MeetMyCat · 26/12/2014 21:50

Boots No 7 airbrush primer definitely reduces shine.

QuinnFabray · 27/12/2014 09:17

It's the Rimmel one for oily skin - stay matte? - that breaks me out. I've been using the MAC SPF one for years now and i always go back to it. It's a staple. It's not perfect , I still get oily, but not nearly as much as without, or with any other primer I've tried.

HermioneWeasley · 27/12/2014 11:31

Superdrug MUA for oily skin. It's skin toned and easily as good as the benefit one

RonaldMcDonald · 27/12/2014 11:41

prep n prime mac

plum1304 · 27/12/2014 14:53

Thank you all for the replies and recommendations, I guess I'm looking to avoid the breakouts rather than shine if I'm honest as that's what bothers me most.

I use Paula's Choice BHA (salicylic acid) lotion before moisturising to help prevent breakouts, plus Shu Uemura Poreraser primer which is great on oilier skin types.

Kundry · 28/12/2014 10:44

Paula's Choice BHA is amazing for preventing breakouts.
