Whyyy does this happen with eye make up?!?

On me. One eye, lovely all goes well, nice eyeshadow blending nicely, lovely tapered clean line of eyeliner and mascara goes on a treat, bambi's eyelashes have got nothing on mine. The other eye? Disaster - wonky eye liner that smudges or I have to keep filling until it's nearly up to my eyebrows. Mascara clumps, eyelashes are puny and stick out in wrong directions and just looks wrong! It's always the same eye and doesn't seem to matter if I do the wonky eye first or not! Is there a name or cure for this phenomenon?!

Unless you're ampidextrous, surely it's just your dominant hand is better for one eye? Same happens me.

Have you tried using a guide for your eyeliner? I don't myself, but know plenty who do. (think it's only if you're doing flicky bits)

I don't really have this issue myself, but I cam only imagine that that is down to years of applying makeup in transit as I've learned to have a steady hand.

Can I ask which direction you do your liner? As in, do you do it from the outside in or inside out

Also do you do one eye at a time, like all makeup on one eye then the other? I do it in stages, eyeshadow both eyes, then eyeliner both eyes then mascara both eyes. Much easier to make it even if you concentrate on doing one job at a time

Yes sorry I don't have any useful suggestions, but like Jamaican, would do it in stages.

I do mine in stage too, liner on one eye then the other, fiddle until it matches, next powder on one eye then the other on lid, then different powder in crease on both, fiddle until they match. Then mascara, if it's clumpy I go over both eyes with an eyelash comb thing. You should just pull mascara out and use, maybe give it a twirl while it's inside, don't scrape against the sides as this makes clumps. And I use right (dominant) hand for both eyes.

The only cure is practice. Im good now, but wasn't for a long time.

And whatever you do, don't switch hands! Do it all with your dominant one. Can't believe people do that!

Oh and I do liner from inside to outside, on top as I find the inside trickier, it's easier to do that bit first. But if I'm doing it on bottom (I'm more likely to use a black/dark powder on bottom though) I go from outside in, stop about halfway and use a clean powder sponge to smudge it along to inside, so it's not to thick on inside.

My left eye is a teeny tiny bit bigger than right eye, so I start all stages on right first, as it's easier to make the left match right than vice versa.

Sorry to post so much but I keep thinking of things lol. Another tip is to put hair drier on cold setting, close eyes and give a quick blast (a few seconds) over each, as this blows excess powder off.

Yeah I use my dominant hand too, no switching! And if possible use natural light, its much easier to see if the colour matches

I switch hands. I'm left-handed and the way I hold my pencil/brush/whatever means I can't see what I'm doing if I use my left hand for my right eye.

Not sure what others have said here but have you tried resting your elbow on a hard surface to keep a steady hand? Also, try tilting the mirror (if it's on a stand) so it's looking down on you...it makes it easier to achieve a cleaner line on the more testing eye!
I switch hands but only for applying mascara.
