mywardrobe has been bought by NAP

For all those interested, the saga of mywardrobe rolls on..

There have been rumblings about buyers for a while on the grapevine, but when they opened a clearance shop in Whiteleys, that indicated NAP were involved. Been finally announced this morning that they've bought the domain name. Will be interesting to see what they do but they're surely the best group to be taking mywardrobe on.

Oh! I was just wondering about this on the Vogue thread. Interesting indeed - wonder if they will be relaunching it, or whether it's just that they've swallowed up a smaller competitor.

A famous online retailer with 4 letters are in massive trouble and looking to get bought out possibly by NAP.

Well I can only think of one big online retailer with 4 letters and I thought they were doing pretty well now.

Come on - there's only one really big purely online retailers with 4 letters surely? Or maybe I'm thinking of a different one as they are way different market to NAP.

It can't be Asos, they aren't in any trouble and have been expanding globally.

Seeing both sides, as a customer and with some knowledge of the business, NAP have really upped their game recently. I think it's due to Moda Operandi now having a physical presence in London. As a customer, I've noticed they've become a lot more attentive. Their private sale did used to start with a better discount though, that's my only gripe. The service MO provide is second to none and I think they're raising the standard in the market place. Great premises too. We're extremely lucky to have such great online shopping in the UK.

Also, knowing designers sold on these sites, it's interesting to know which ones are doing well and which selling models work best.

Yoox, but I thought they were doing relatively well? (Would not be surprised though seeing how Italian economy is going.)

Will my wardrobe just become another NAP though? We don't really need another... It'd be a shame if NAP owned everything.

Starting to believe it's ASOS. Took a look at some statements, Yoox have changed their strategy and seem to be growing fast in Asia. As a price-conscious shopper, not super excited by everything being owned by NAP/Outnet - they understand presentation and pricing really well, whereas ASOS and Yoox seem to struggle with both and are often bargain basements. If you ignore the crummy photos, the same tat can often be purchased for much less from them. Voting with my wallet

I can see them teaming up with The Outnet would work really well.

It will be interesting to see what NaP do with My-Wardrobe. I think NaP needs some kind of rethink as there's just too much going on on the site these days - make-up, sports clothes, FINDS so maybe they will separate things off? Who knows!

I wouldn't be surprised if it was ASOS, I used to buy a lot from them but buy very little these days, stock is not as good and their customer service is dire. I've also had too many incorrect orders- only one boot, half a bikini and they couldn't get me the other half that was part of the set so it was useless. No response to emails, the only way to get a response is to complain publicly on Facebook or Twitter. I would imagine a lot of people would be put off with service like that.

My wardrobe is a loss, I used to love their selection and their loyalty scheme was great. I wonder what NAP will do with it. I agree about NAP being a bit crowded these days with makeup etc.

this article seems to suggest NAP has only bought the domain name in order to cannibalise MY W web traffic and re-direct to NAP. Apparently NAP has not bought My W in terms of assuming assets or liabilities so not bought out the company at all.

I'd be surprised at NAP buying ASOS too Mrs C.
I must say though that I've not necessarily noticed ASOS being cheaper on current season stock than the brand itself - old season stuff yes but in my experience ASOS often don't price match so it's not usually the cheapest place to buy current season of e.g. Whistles.
I use ASOS a lot though because contrary to other posters I actually find their delivery and returns to be second to none - I pay £10 a year for premier, everything I want within 24 hours, free returns and they credit back to cc really fast.

Clicked on My-W and they are currently offering NAP, Outnet and Mr Porter - some lonely looking Carven sweaters still on the site but they cannot be purchased any more and they are not forwarding clients directly to the Outnet sweater department - at least not yet

I think MY will go the same way as Woolies, Comet etc and simply disappear. If NAP have bought it, I can't see why they would continue it, it's too close to their own offering. I think it will remain till the returns period expires mid-Jan, then go.

Another premium brand site will pop up soon enough though.

I would have thought that NAP would want their customer mailing list, too, though? I assumed it would be valuable, but perhaps it will just be left unused.
