How many coats do you own?

I was clearing out and mine are

  1. Full length smart wool coat
  2. Full length Landsend Chalet Coat for playground duty!
  3. Short waterproof dog walking jacket with detachable fleece liner
  4. Summer waterproof jacket
  5. Short smart wool "car coat" plus numerous scruffy fleeces.

I'm pondering whether I can justify another winter coat!

Viviennemary · 14/12/2014 22:48

About 14. Shock But around 5 are so scruffy I couldn't be seen out in them. Must get rid one day.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 14/12/2014 22:50

Thick winter padded showerproof
Lightweight smart raincoat
Cotton parka type
Cape with fur collar
Gore-tex waterproof
Fleece which goes under Gore-tex for warmth
Lightweight cagoule (lives in car for emergencies)

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 14/12/2014 22:55

I counted 20 of mine in the coat cupboard [grimace]. I think I need to get rid of some - I don't wear them all every year.

HappyGirlNow · 14/12/2014 22:56

20-30 at a rough guess....

HappyGirlNow · 14/12/2014 22:56

And I've already had a clear out!

itsonlysubterfuge · 14/12/2014 23:00

I do not own a coat. I have two jackets, one is a fluffy one and the other a hoodie.

yazzy85 · 14/12/2014 23:39

ToffeeLatteplease can you please share with us which coat is your perfect coat??

TeacupDrama · 15/12/2014 06:37

2 winter coats, smart dark red wool, and white and black check,
Turquoise waterproof
Cream trenchcoat
Black leather fake fur trim very warm
Navy peacoat

Numerous jackets about 7

bigbluestars · 15/12/2014 06:51

I am a sucker for coats and jackets. A nice jacket can jazz up even jeans and t shirt and make you look smart. A coat and pair of boots can cover up sweatshirt and joggers..

I have about 20, most of them are from jumble sales and charity shops, many only cost me £1. My best coat is a cashmere coat that cost hundreds back in the day before kids when I was a high flying career women with a salary to match.

I have three:

Toasty down filled coat
Lightweight raincoat
Smart wool coat

Several jackets too.

I don't really need any more as they cover all bases, although I'm sure I would be tempted to buy more if I could afford to.

arlagirl · 15/12/2014 09:00

Fifteen

cressetmama · 15/12/2014 09:19

About 15, but lots are hand-me-downs from my late great aunt, who was more than a touch of a frockaholic (and the same shape as me)! And quite a few dog walking coats and jackets in varying stages of warmth, waterproofing and decrepitude. And some shared with DS1, but significantly fewer than DH owns!

AnathemaIsANiceNameForAGirl · 15/12/2014 10:44

Oh God, loads Blush

Smart brown wool coat, Hobbs
Boden RDM
Brown leather jacket
3 x velvet Nehru Boden jackets
2 x wool military jackets, Boden
Grey wool blazer, White Stuff
Brown moleskin blazer, Boden
Moleskin duffle coat, Boden
Purple wool boucle boyfriend coat
Knee-length cotton frock coat, Toast
Thick down jacket, Boden
Navy jersey blazer

And probably a few I've forgotten. I love coats and jackets.

Muckymoo71 · 15/12/2014 10:51

Can never have enough coats. It's important to have decent coats, shoes, handbags then you can pretty much get away with anything. Btw I am trying to justify buying another coat !

leedy · 15/12/2014 11:12

Now feeling better about my disturbing amount of outerwear. Not including jackets, I have:

Warm waterproof khaki parka (North Face)
Navy puffa coat (North Face)
Smart green wool coat (Toast)
Long dressy tweed coat (Izzy Lane)
Middling-weight beige raincoat (Skogstad)
Light khaki parka (Ilse Jacobsen)
Light cream trench-style raincoat (Patagonia)
Light black ditto (Patagonia)
Black lightweight coat (Toast)
Ridiculous sort of pink leopard print khaki parka (Boden)

Why yes, I do like parkas and obviously clearly value being able to keep dry in all seasons.
