Best waterproof/winter boot? Merrell? ANything else?

I need decent winter boots. Something that can be worn in work (school) that will keep my feet warm and dry on playground duty and out and about. Preferably higher than ankle length .

I've been looking at Merrell boots ..fancied the natalya but then thought they looked a bit too chunky. Wondered about the Decora chant? What is the fit like? I'm standard 7 with skinny calves.

Any other makes or suggestions..up to about £140 ?? I really need to get some asap!

Can't really help, but I came on here looking for advice for the same sort of thing. I had these a couple of years ago, which I loved, but they let in water (found out later they are notorious for it) and I just ordered these and I find the foot part too chunky looking - although they are good value at £65.

Those Decora Chant boots look quite good, but I am following your post in case someone else has some other good ideas

I've got some Teva de la vina boots which are in their second winter and doing well. They're not super warm like snow boots, but prett cosy.

I have some Camel Active. The pair I chose wasn't sold as waterproof, but they've survived the sort of rain where the ground is one big puddle without the slightest leak.

I tried a few pairs of Merrel, but they just didn't fit me right - too wide at the heel and they slipped around everywhere. I couldn't even walk around the shop in one of them.

My Merrell walking shoes have lasted brilliantly for the last 7 years, so I really rate the brands durability but haven't tried their waterproof boots.

Sorel boots get good reviews and I've seen some good prices on them recently on Amazon.

I've just bought Teva Little Cloud boots from Go Outdoors. Warm and slipper like!!!

Timberland have a range of waterproof boots that are good. I've got the Nellie boots which might be a bit chunky looking for what you want but they do other styles that are a bit more work appropriate. I wear mine everyday for walking a few miles to work and they've lasted over a year without leaking. Holding out for the sales to pick up a few more pairs!

Oh and I'd second that fly boots are very leaky. I've got 4 pairs because I like the style but they're no good in the wet.

at a size 7, try the men's boots - usually better made and certainly cheaper.

I have these. They are more of a welly but OMGare theygood. I had them on today in awful weather. My feet were warm and bone dry. You can get various styles. They are fantastic. They are generous but I bought an insole. I could not believe how toasty my feet were in rubber boots but they have a fine fleece lining that is just amazing.

I got some merrell boots off amazon 4 years ago. They were end of the line or something, i don't know. Only cost me 20 pounds. Weren't water proof but a spray can of walkers is only 6 quid or so? They are a amazingly comfortable and last very well. They are not high boots, like walking boots, laced. Like the chameleon ones. I love them.

I've bought these in black, and they are utterly brilliant. Completely waterproof, comfy, warm, and not too chunky. Also, they seem to be half what I paid for them on amazon :-/
