Saffiano leather

I've seen a lot of bags made of this lately. Is it proper leather?

It is, yes. It's been stamped or something to give the texture. Personally I don't like it at all - was looking for a purse earlier this year and every sodding one was saffiano so I ended up not buying any of them.

Ah right thanks.....I did wonder because it looks like fabric. Not sure it's for me. I prefer my leather to look like leather
