Is this skirt too short?

I already have this skirt (well not exact one but similar) short skirt which I was planning to wear out tonight with black opaque tights and a silky halter neck in a soft grey colour. I tried it on earlier and my husband commented that it is a bit short for a 38 year old in his opinion.

Is it? It's hardly a crotch skimmer ...

No it is fine

My father never liked my mother wearing short skirts -- I think there maybe some protectiveness going on.

zipetwhippet · 04/12/2014 14:53

No not at all too shaort- wear it and tell him what a lucky boy he is

zipetwhippet · 04/12/2014 14:53

*short!

SofaCanary · 04/12/2014 15:01

Bollocks, wear it, the length is absolutely fine.

mumofthemonsters808 · 04/12/2014 15:09

It would be on me because I'm tall even though I'd also wear it with thick black tights bending over would be a problem.

VillaVillekulla · 04/12/2014 15:19

I'd wear it. I probably wouldn't wear it with a skimpy top but that's just a question of personal taste/preference. I'd probably team a short skirt with a jumper and flat boots or something. In fact, that's what I'm wearing right now.

It's a nice skirt btw. I was eyeing it the other day when Gap had a 40% off voucher but there weren't any in my size.

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/12/2014 15:22

Not too short at all, I might buy it.

Jennys2108 · 05/12/2014 22:29

I have one just like it from oasis and I like it with opaques. Trying to decide whether I can wear it with knee high boots to my work do, but can't find a top I like.
I'm 37

Fabulassie · 05/12/2014 23:22

I'm too irritated by your husband's comment to know what to say.

I guess if he disapproves you won't enjoy yourself so go ahead and wear something more conservative.

burnishedsilver · 06/12/2014 00:24

My rule of thumb is that if I have to ask then the answer is probably yes.

I can't comment on how short it is on you without knowing how tall you are.

30somethingm · 06/12/2014 00:37

I think you look very nice in it.

50ShadesOfSummer · 06/12/2014 06:50

Not too short IMO. Especially if worn with opaques.

Did you wear it? (Not going to comment on your DH's opinion.)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/12/2014 06:50

I think it looks horrible on the model, with bare legs. Might be okay with opaques - depends on your legs.

notquiteruralbliss · 06/12/2014 22:55

I wear that cut of skirt ( from Gap ) to work with opaque tights and I am in my 50s.

SaltySeaBird · 07/12/2014 07:52

I wore it! I think it was fine.

I was a bit irritated by his comment so thought sod him (he wasn't out with me that evening!)

Nice one Salty, bet you looked great!

LucilleHendrix · 07/12/2014 13:42

I am 37 and I would wear it...

He's not wearing you are, are you comfortable in it? If so, rock on :)
