Philips Lumea on ebay

I've been watching Phillips Lumea hair removal thingies on ebay. It's very tempting as they're are quite expensive new. But I don't understand why people all them. As far as I understand they are supposed to be used regularly to prevent hair growth. Are they cumbersome in the long run or do they stop being very efficient? Basically, why are people selling them?

If you read reviews many say it is nowhere near as good as a salon, and it also only works on certain skin/hair types apparently.

I've got one. I also used to work at a clinic that did IPL. DO NOT BUY ON EBAY!!!! Although not as strong as commercial machines these are lasers and could give you a nasty burn. If you are fair skinned with dark hair then they should work for you.

I'd steer clear of ebay for something like this (this isn't the type of thing you'd want to end up with a fake or faulty version of!) and keep an eye on Boots website as they are often on offer quite a bit cheaper. I have one and love it, but I only see it as a long term management rather than permanent solution. I've had laser, and the same went for that too. I spent hundreds over months and everything grew back just as bad, if not worse. Spending £350 on a machine that I could use at home to keep hair at bay for a lot longer than any other method, with a much more sparse regrowth too, was ideal for me. Also, small child doesn't allow any time to go to salons these days so 10 mins here and there at home is great.

Each Lumea only has so many zaps in it. The one you buy on ebay, if it is legit, may have reached the end of its life cycle.

I intend to get one, a friend has had fab results with hers.

Great points! Thank you everyone. So it's either somebody who didn't read instructions properly and it doesn't work on their hair or somebody selling on before you have to replace the bulb (?). Yep, I would probably wait for offers.

The sellers on ebay could have been using it regularly until the bulb has virtually run out of juice.If you do make an offer, ask first how old it is and how often its been used.I saw the Argos ad too, this is prob the cheapest you'll ever find it and will be OOS virtually everywhere. I would reserve anything you find in stock if you really want one, then decide whether to collect and pay then.

Boots often have a good online offer with points back.They did also do a 60 day return if not satisfied offer (Philips) so you can basically do a few sessions to see if it works.

I didn't think I could sell something that's been on my pubes.

I've bought one (not on ebay), purely because I'm fair skinned with dark hair - fair skinned and dark haired enough to abandon all my anti shaving politics in the summer.

They have a finite life, though (so I wouldn't buy second hand and some of the rival brands have replaceable units which seem to work out at the cost of a wax, per use, anyhow), and it takes quite a while to use them, from the instructions I've read. I'm hoping that not having to keep on top of the 5 o'clock shadow will make up for that time.
