I hate my lips - pic attached, please help

Ok I've name changed as this is the only way I can post a pic.

I've always hated my lips. I have a thin top lip and full bottom lip which exaggerates the difference. I never wear lipstick and have always been teased as a child and adult. (Slug lip, Bubba from Forest Gump........)

I'd love to wear lipstick, as I've never been confident with eye make up, but I always end up wiping it off, as I dislike the results. Light colours make them look bigger and dark make me look like a clown.

I'd really appreciate any advice, if there is a way I could minimise their appearance?

I wonder if some of the comments you got were not down to jealousy... Because your lips are gorgeous in a very sexy kind of way, and many women would kill for them. It's a shame that the bullying you got is preventing you from seeing it. But you feel what you feel, so underplay them if that's what makes you comfortable!

You have gorgeous lips! I definitely think the bullying was fueled by jealousy and I'm very sorry it has left you feeling this way about yourself. There is no physical need for you to think the way you do so working on your self esteem/confidence is the best thing to do.

Really, people pay £££ to get the same lips that you have naturally.

I do agree with others you have to embrace your lips and go out with a big smile and lippy to enhance them. Don't hide them and you will learn to love them. As a PP said, start with a lip gloss or tinted balm – the carmex ones are great and cost very little, here's a link or have a mooch around Boots, I also love Maybelline's Baby Lips - then see how you feel and experiment with lipsticks. Sheer is the way to go if you don't want to feel too obvious.

This is a classic example of a feature that you have started to obsess about and think looks bad when it doesn't. Loads of people would love your lips. I think they are both quite full – you have full, natural lips that are a lovely shape.

If I were young would head over to the bobby brown counter and get them to make you up, then go a different day at the Mac counter and then the benefit counter and so on!

Play with some different looks.

You have a beautiful mouth, it's really stunning!

OP you really do have great lips - I'd go to a big department store and head for a makeup counter where you like the way the assistant is made up and ask for advice. Maybe try and get a natural look and a more dramatic look? (I really think you would look ace with quite dramatic lips)

Nothing we can say here will make you feel better about your lips
Speak to a therapist about your being bullied and see if it is possible to try to put those thoughts into a more useful place

please don't do surgery. use a proper lipliner - nude Guerlain used to do a cult one called Cupidon or one to match your lipstick.

if you've ever read Memoirs of a Geisha in fact you have their preferred shape which I think is a flower, they actually paint their lips to look that way.

and finally - I have full lips and a wide forehead, as a kid etc I used to get called rubber lips and slaphead...

who's laughing now as I have an unlined forehead and gorgeous full lips.

but I know how childhood teasing can get one down.

I see nothing wrong with your lips at all, in fact I think they look very nice. I wouldn't call your top lip thin either, it looks completely in proportion to your bottom lip.
They look naturally quite rosey too so you probably don't need much lipstick. I would be tempted to go to a make up counter in debenhams or similar so they can advise you, and you can try some on before buying :-)

I too was expecting a photo of very thin lips and agree that your lips are nice.

When reading magazine interviews with models/actresses I'm always surprised at how many say they were teased for being tall/skinny/having full lips or some other nice feature. Must be a jealousy thing.

I am SO envious, your lips are like Angelina Jolie's so any negative comments are from pure envy imo and not based on fact at ALL. I would kill to have lips like yours OP, seriously.

You need to do nothing except remember this thread when you feel low about them as THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AT ALL. Go and treat yourself to some nice lipstick and learn to love them

Wow, you have gorgeous lips, very sexy. Sounds like you havent found the right lip colour for you. Maybe try a gloss very close to your natural colour instead of lipstick. I find that a safe bet. anyway, I'm not sure you really need much, as you have a lovely natural colour!
