Brighton tomorrow

I have an unexpected day to kill in Brighton tomorrow - I love shopping, wandering, eating out.

Are there "naice" shopping areas which are not high street clones, and do you have any hidden gems I should look at? I'm 40, size 18, more townie than country girl if that helps.

Thank you in anticipation!

try North Laines, that sounds definitely up your street

Not the North Laine, that's not naice it's trendy. The lanes are the naice shopping area. But why not explore both! From the bottom of North street you can walk either direction.

East Street is where the high end high street stores are.
North Laine area is full of small independent shops and a few high streets such as Joy/Oliver Bonas. Lots of great places to eat. The Lanes is just full of jewellers these days.
Avoid Churchill Square like the plague. It is just high street stuff and not worth the time or effort.
