I'm not a kick in the arse off 40! I have dull muddy lank dry hair. It's a shitty shape too after a fuck up hair cut. Too heavy at front makes me old! I can't afford to change the colour yet but wonder is there something I can do to liven it up a bit and how do I stop tats forming at the back of my neck. Also what can I do to the non fringe thing to get it off my face. Looking forward to ur pearls of wisdom. tIA

Sea salt spray makes hair look a bit rough, and slightly thicker. My hair needs that sort of thing, else all fine, shiny and floppy.

This would be nice but maybe a tad longer

I agree with both tethers and belindas recs.

I would get some colour (unsure which) to add body, movement etc.

SuperFlyHigh · 29/11/2014 22:14

And yes to babyliss big hair.

Behoove · 29/11/2014 22:54

If you darkened slightly it would bring the colour of your lovely eyes out. You could DIY at home. If you got a few more layers for a bit of volume - done.

Coumarin · 29/11/2014 23:23

Just to add, you're way too hard on yourself!

Your hair is shiny and looks really soft. Your eyes are a gorgeous colour and you have good clear skin.

Carry on with a new hairdo and things, always good to have an overhaul and confidence boost but be kinder to yourself too.

Rhymerocket · 30/11/2014 08:20

Thank you all so much your kind comments. I have taken all the advice on board and I can see it's maybe a lack of volume thing. Found some good videos on YouTube supplant officeyself a big ole shake and makeover of an effort. X

which sea salt thing?

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 30/11/2014 21:48

Noelle, this is the one I have, although I think it was cheaper www.boots.com/en/Toni-Guy-Casual-Sea-Salt-Texturising-Spray-200ml_1234339/. I don't use it all the time, though. I also use the blonde hair spray by John Frieda. Just depends on what I want / how my hair is, on the day.

BTW I wash my hair w Johnson & Johnson Tesco's children's all in one ("top to toe"?) shampoo and bodywash before I use the Elvive. I like to strip everything out of my hair and get it squeaky clean before I add Elvive in again, else it feels too coated, for me.

LeoandBoosmum · 30/11/2014 22:03

You look lovely! I like the colour, it's flattering against your skin tone! I think a long bob. As nice as some of the cuts people have posted here are I think they verge on the edgy making them difficult to maintain...
I think this would look good on you:
newhair-style.tk/wp-content/uploads/heidi-klum-hairstyles-11.
The long bob with layers will give added volume and movement.

Haven't read the whole thread but your hair looks lovely and soft and really suits you. Perhaps blonder?

pinkfrocks · 01/12/2014 08:18

I don't agree you need to go lighter- it will be too draining. But I do think you could chop 3-4 inches off so it just touches your shoulders, and make it have more movement and structure. You've got a nice oval-ish face and it could be framed more by your hair rather than having your hair just hanging either side.

I also think you could do with some mascara to give your eyes more definition and a bit of blusher /lippie.

You have good skin and nice hair- you just need to tweak it all a bit.
