The Babyliss Curl Secret is on offer at Boots at the moment, £99 rather than £119. Has anyone used it and is it any good?

I have fine shoulr length hair with layers, shortest at chin length. I'd love to be able to put curls/waves in my hair that last and don't have the time to do with straighters etc. This could be the answer but it is a lot of money if it isn't great!

I have it and it works really well. The only thing I will say is that you need to very small sections of hair at a time and unless you are an octopus with lots of patience or have a very helpful person to do the back for you it's a bit of a faff to use. I have only used it once or twice as I just can't be bothered. I tend to end up getting a salon blow dry instead. Plus it works best of your hair is already nicely smooth dried/straightened first, and I am shit at that, so I figure if I am going to a salon to get it dried smooth first I may as well let them put the curls in as well.

But then I never had could get to grips with straighteners either. If you are more patient and bendy armed than me then I would definitely recommend it. It certainly does what it says on the tin and the curl stays in well.

Oh I want to know this too. It looks so easy, but maybe too good to be true?

The front is easy and quick. It's the sheer amount of times it takes to get around your whole head that's the bothersome bit.

I was seriously considering buying one of those Ego cold plate hair therapy things for that reason but A) they didn't have them in stock and B) I realised I should wait to see what reviewers and bloggers say about them before buying as they look like they may be a whizz-bang gadget sort of thing.

I have fine hair and although the curls are fab, it doesn't curl from the root so you still have to spend the same amount of time (and products) blowing volume into your hair beforehand if it's fine or flat.

It takes some getting used to when doing the back and each side and choosing the correct curl directions, and you can't hold it upside down so I feel like a contortionist when doing one side of my hair.

I bought one from QVC and sent it back. Despite the different settings the only style it would do in my hair was very tight curls and I prefer a more relaxed look. I had high hopes of finding a gadget that would make curling my hair easier but this was not it.

I thought I was going to get lots of use out of it but it was a bit disappointing. It takes ages. You have to use quite small sections which makes the curls very tight. It can't be used to get any sort of root lift. I end up with ringlets and flat roots. I've gone back to my heated rollers.

Why not just buy a big curling wand? (1" - 2").
Takes me 15 minutes or 20 minutes if I'm very careful. Lovely soft waves. Cost £20 from TKMaxx.

I have fine bobbed hair and thought the curl secret was a waste of money tbh - it's a faff to use, the curl didn't really last in my hair and it doesn't give volume from the root.

What I can really recommend though is the cloud nine heated rollers. They are fab, an absolute cinch to use and gives hair big bouncy waves (or tighter curls dependent on size of roller). They cost about the same as the curl secret but are brilliant.

I love mine, and can't wait for my hair to grow a bit longer so I can curl it nicely. Like any styling tool I have to be in the mood to create a style as non of it is instant ease, but it is no harder for me than sectioning my hair to straighten.

mmm...not keen on the idea at all!! Not keen on the element that pulls your hair in. Say it malfunctions and pulls it too much or traps your hair ouch

it's brill, just so easy to use and transforms your looks so quickly, even if you just pick out a few stands to curl. i find it works well with my layers which are similar length to the ops. Def fun and once you get the hang quick to use.
