Gorgeous new coat - advice needed!

I recently ordered this coat online from Hobbs. I have never paid so much for a coat in my life and still get panicky when I think about it. It's a lovely coat and it looks good on. My problem is that I'm not sure about the fit. It looks as if it fits perfectly, but I can feel the pull in my shoulders when I put my arms in front of me, and the sleeves pull up too short. I haven't tried it yet with a jumper, but I suspect it will be too tight. I would go up a size, but Hobbs have sold out. And, actually, the next size up might be too big on me and I might lose the coat's nice slimming outline.

Now I'm in a quandary about whether to keep the coat or send it back. I'm wondering too if I should get a cheaper smart coat so that I can afford a casual coat too.

Can anyone help me sort my head out? What would you do?

Thanks, Green, ruby and Voyages. You're right, Green, that my uncertainty about the coat was nagging at me. So, today, I went to my local branch of Hobbs in Brighton and tried on the larger size. I took the coat I already had with me, as I was advised that the shop could send it back for me if I wanted.

I asked the assistant who had reserved the larger size for me if she would stay and advise me on which coat looked better. She was so helpful and patient. Between the two of us, we decided that the size 14 was slightly too big on the shoulders on me and also too big on the waist. It was also still a bit tight on the shoulders. She said that the size 12 looked a perfect fit on me.

I did ask about Hobbs doing alterations (useful tip, ruby), but they don't do them at that branch. Maybe only some branches offer that service.

Final decision: I kept the coat! I'm happy now because I know that it looks good (everyone compliments me in it Smile) and I know that there isn't a better size for me.

By the way, the assistant said the coat is flying off the shelves, so if anyone else wants one they'll have to get in quick.

Thank you all for helping me decide what to do. It was good to be able to come on here and unload because my DH was fed up with me "banging on about that bloody coat". He didn't even complain when the parking came to £13 today, which means the coat has now cost us even more money. I think he's just relieved that I'm now happy.
