How long for a leather pencil skirt?

I'm getting a straight, ankle length black leather skirt taken up and in. I'm planning that it will look something like this very nice skirt when it's done. I plan to wear it for the next 20 years (the leather is beautiful, like butter, which is why I want to keep it) so I need it to be a classic. Is just below the knee ok? I'm about a size 10 but I have thickish knees so can't go too short. (and I'm 35 if that's relevant) Planning to wear it with either flat knee boots or killer heels, I don't really like the ankle boots thing.

Below the knee pencil skirts are fashionable at the moment, but long term it probably depends on how long your legs are and where your skirt sits. Supposedly the most flattering length for a skirt should mean that you are showing 50% leg and 50% skirt. See here for a better explanation!

Just below the knee sounds good to me.

Another option would be to go a bit longer, which is popular now, with the option to shorten it again in the future. I attached this picture to another thread. I think the length is lovely.

I saw your post on the other thread Burnished, which is what got me thinking! I must see if there are any shops locally where I can try on a couple of skirts and see how the different lengths look. Leaving it longer for now is an option, and definitely better than going too short and regretting it.

I have a lovely chocolate brown one that ends just below the knee. I wear it with pointy court shoes and burgundy, maroon, oxblood, grey and forest green blouses. Love that skirt!

That sounds like the look I'm after Saints. DH I has bought me a cream silk blouse for Christmas that's taunting me upstairs and I can't wait to wear the two on Christmas day! Do you wear that skirt for glam nights out too? I'm currently avoiding the pile on my desk by pinteresting and online window shopping for inspiration

It really depends on what length suits you best. For me, it's definitely just below the knee. Calf length looks ridiculous because I'm short and above the knee makes my thighs look massive. But we're all different.
