J Crew sizing and returns?

I'm looking at the Minnie bi-stretch wool pants but I'm totally confused by sizing. I'm a 10-12 pear but wear a 2 in their No 2 Pencil Skirt, torn between a 2 or a 4 in the Minnies? Size chart suggests a 6 in bottoms but I'm a 2 in the skirt so I don't trust that. Also if I were to order both sizes to try, how quickly do they process returns?

Returns are super easy and free. Sizing is HUGE, but their website is pretty specific with measurements.

Sorry, missed your main question. I returned a coat a couple of years ago, and from what I remember the money was back into my account within 10 working days. It was insanely expensive so I would have remembered if it was a longer amount of time!
